Page 61 of Their Stolen Obsession (Phantoms and Obsession Duet #2)

Her Predator

Saint

S ebastian gargled on his blood, choking on red as it spilled out of his mouth. His ugly eyes were wide in shock as if he never expected Liv to go through with taking his life, but she did, and she made the thrill of the kill look so damn good. I was fucking proud of her.

Sebastian’s body jerked, and I bet he pissed himself one last time. His lifeless eyes stared right at the woman who sent him straight back to where he came from. Hell. The devil would greet him any moment now.

Slowly, Liv let go of Sebastian’s hair, and his face fell to the ground. She remained silent. Stuck.

As uncomfortable as it was, I tucked my hard cock back into my pants.

Liv’s kill turned me on all over again, and I wanted more of her.

I wanted to fuck her over Sebastian’s dead corpse and celebrate his death, but this was her first time taking someone’s life.

As much as Sebastian deserved to die, she had been the one to do it, and she had to come to terms with the killer she had become.

“Liberating…” Sin pushed his shoe against Sebastian’s dead body. “Isn’t it?”

Liv didn’t answer Sin, and she dropped the knife to the ground as she stood up. She stared down at her hands with Sebastian’s blood all over them. Sure, Liv was in shock, but anyone would be with their first kill. She’d get over his death.

I touched her shoulder.

“How does it feel?” I asked, excited for her answer.

Liv replied hesitantly, “Good. Too damn good.” But she pulled away from me.

Okay, Liv required a minute to process what she had done. I could deal with that. I’d give her some space, but not too much.

Liv’s eyes were blank. Emotionless. I couldn’t read her, and I didn’t like that. No fucking way. Something was wrong.

I tried to explain, “The first kill is—”

“This isn’t my first. Preston was,” Liv interrupted.

“That was different. You needed help,” Sin expressed as he pushed Sebastian with his shoe until he turned over and he pointed at him. “But with this bastard, you were ready.”

“Right,” Liv whispered as she peered down at Sebastian and the carnage she had created. “I killed Sebastian on my own.”

Liv spoke those words almost trying to convince herself that her ex was gone. That she had gone through with taking his life when she had the chance, and she didn’t even pause for one second. She took the knife, sliced him and didn’t blink an eye.

“Well, you can’t take all the credit. We gave you the knife, beat the shit out of him, and tortured him for weeks. We—”

“But I took his life!” Liv exclaimed as she interrupted Sin and pointed at herself. “I did this! Me!”

Liv shook her head back and forth, but she didn’t cry. She never screamed or fell to her knees.

I took a step toward Liv, and I reached out for her. “It’s okay, darling.”

“No,” Liv repeated.

Sin talked over her. “This is all new. Cut yourself some fucking slack. You got a case of cold feet.”

“This isn’t goddamn cold feet, Sin,” Liv whispered while she peered at Sin. “I enjoyed killing Sebastian. Way too fucking much.”

I swear Liv shivered. Her harsh new reality had set in, and she realized she did not differ from us.

She had turned out to be just like the men who were fucking addicted to her.

We’d do anything for her, whatever it took to be with her.

She was one of us—our phantom tendencies had rubbed off on our little obsession.

She was our universe entangled with her obsessed phantoms.

“You got off on the kill. So what?” Sin shrugged his shoulders and crossed his arms in front of his chest. “That’s all part of the thrill, sweetheart.

The adrenaline rush you get and the high locked in the moment is a fucking dark place to be, but once you accept who you truly are, killing becomes easier. ”

“What happens if I don’t want to accept any of this shit?” Liv asked as she stared Sin straight in the eyes.

“I don’t know.” Sin shook his head. “I never fought the urge to kill.”

“Well, I am.” Liv turned away from us. “I need space. Time to think.”

I panicked.

I grabbed Liv’s wrist. “No. We won’t let you go.”

Liv spun around, and I pulled her into my arms.

“Let go of me!” Liv thrashed against me. “Please, don’t make this harder than it fucking has to be.”

The sadness in her voice made my heart crack, but I wouldn’t give up on us. I never could because we all belonged together. Now, forever, and even in the afterlife. Liv was our fucking obsession, an addiction we couldn’t quit, and we were in too deep to get out.

“I can’t let go.” I held onto her.

Liv pounded her fists into my chest as tears sprang out of her eyes and fell onto my shirt. I couldn’t fucking let her leave us like this because she was a damn mess. She needed us more than we needed her. She knew it, and her tiny beads of wetness on my dang shirt could attest to that fact.

Fuck, Liv. Don’t give up on us. Be with us. Stay.

“Yes! I need to get away from you. I want you both to let me go.”

Sin cupped Liv’s face in between his hands.

“Why?” Sin asked as he shook her and stared her straight in the eyes. “We love you so damn much. Please tell me you feel that same affection too?”

“I can’t… I won’t… I let you both hurt me over and over again, but then you’ve saved me more times than I can count,” Liv explained through tears as my heart broke wide open, and she turned away from us to Sebastian’s corpse that haunted our relationship.

“And now I’ve done this? I don’t know if I can accept who I’ve become when I’m with either of you. ”

Goddamn you, Chamberlain . We were so fucking close and now this asshole ruined our happily ever after with our girl. Fuck you, man! Fuck you !

Sin’s jaw twitched, and he let go of Liv’s face. Our hearts suffered the greatest turmoil we had ever known; he was as destroyed as I. But he gently caressed Liv’s cheek while I wiped away her tears because we had to be strong. For her.

“What do you need?” Sin asked, brushing hair behind her ear.

“A break,” Liv whispered.

Time apart. Liv wanted distance. She fucking killed me.

“How long?” Sin asked.

Liv glanced at me and then back at Sin. “I don’t know.”

Out of frustration, I released Liv’s wrists and grabbed her face. “What do you mean, you don’t fucking know?”

“I just don’t know! Okay?”

“No…” Tears burned my eyes, and I whispered through clenched teeth, “I won’t let you go when we just got you back. I can’t fucking do that.”

Sin grazed my shoulder.

“Let her go, Saint,” Sin whispered.

“No. Fuck that.” Tears drip onto my forearms as I stared into her beautiful eyes, and my forehead touched hers. “I can’t.”

Liv pleaded, “Saint, please . Let me go.”

Liv’s fingers brushed my forearms, and she made goosebumps crawl over my skin.

I wanted to feel this way forever. My hairs rising to her touch and my heart racing in my chest so fucking fast I thought it might break my ribcage into pieces.

I’d fight against her need to flee from us until I took my last breath.

Liv reached the backs of my hands as tingles ran through me from her contact, but she tugged on me. She wanted me to release her and to let her go, and no matter how much I didn’t want to, I knew I had to for her to figure her shit out.

“We won’t ever give up on us,” I whispered as she pried my hands away.

“Even when we take our last breaths, we’ll always fucking love you,” Sin said as she turned away and didn’t glance back. “And we’ll follow you into the goddamn afterlife, sweetheart. You can count on that.”

Liv walked out of our lives. She was gone. Maybe permanently but forever was too long for us.

There was no way we’d give up. She was ours. Always.
