Page 41 of Their Perfect Daddy
MONTY
“ H appy birthday day to youuuuuuu. And many moorrreeeee!!”
The group cheers as Finn blows out the candles on the six-tier cake. When he wobbles forward on his step stool, Bellamy wraps an arm around his boy.
“Easy, little one. No need to cake smash this one. I got you your own if you want to do that later.”
Finn turns to his Daddy with a wide smile. “Really? You remembered I wanted to try?”
“I remember everything about you,” he replies.
The pair share intense looks as the rest of us turn away to give them privacy. I hunt for my own Daddy and boyfriend. Since I’m standing close to the action, it’s hard to spot everyone in the room. With my upgrade to the use of a cane, my men don’t hover quite as much.
I’ve joked about how cool it makes me now. In reality, it’s another annoying delay in my ability to walk on my own.
Really though, I shouldn’t complain. I’ve been healing much quicker than expected. I tell everyone who asks that Daddy— or rather, Dr. Gellar —is the reason behind it. Without him, I’d feel helpless in the aftermath of everything.
Danny has even gone back to work too. He realized he couldn’t be much help anymore other than to keep me company. And Micah expressed it was about to be their busiest time of the year, aka wedding season.
“Are you a pimp or something?” An adorable twink drops into the chair beside me. I recognize him as another one of the newcomers.
Shaking my head, I point to the bandages wrapped around my leg. Daddy made me wear them to remind everyone I’m not back to full capacity. “Not a pimp. Just an injured athlete. The cane adds character and is much better than crutches.”
He tits his head to the side. “You’re the Monty guy. I’ve seen your ads all over the city. Kinda crazy to meet you in person. Then again, this place is packed with famous people. My brother would have a field day if he knew I was here.”
“Your brother doesn’t like celebrities or something?”
“Nah,” he replies with a smirk. “More the only ones he meets are either in danger or a pain in his ass. Not the good kind either.”
I raise my brows. “What in the world does your brother do? Is he a sex worker? That would explain why you jumped to conclusions about me.”
The guy snorts loudly. A few people look our way curiously.
“Sometimes I forget people don’t automatically know about him.
Most of the people in my life are aware of who he is.
” He pulls out his phone and flashes me a picture of him standing next to a hulking guy.
“This is my brother, Tank. He runs a massive security company along with a recording label on the side, though he kind of handed that part off a while back after some stuff went down. That’s where the whole celebrity thing comes in. ”
“Makes sense then. I could see the issue. What’s your name?”
He blinks at me before smacking his forehead. “Did the thing again. Assumption should be my middle name at this point. My name is Kendall. Nice to meet you.”
I shake the hand he extends my way. “Same to you, Kendall. I’m Monty.”
“Do you know a lot of the people here?” He motions to the group at large.
“Most of them, yeah. I play on the team with them, like Bellport and Merry,” I point to where those two surround their boys who are gobbling up pieces of cake. “Some of the others are friends of friends or know my boyfriends.”
“Boyfriends!? Tell me everything.” He laces his fingers together and leans forward onto his hands.
The position is hilarious. He’s obviously a nosy person—and really, same . I appreciate this energy, so of course I tell him damn near everything. The only thing I leave out is the lingerie bits. Our princess doesn’t really share that with just anyone.
By the time I’m done, his jaw is hanging open. I laugh and tap his chin, so he knows to close it.
“Holy hell. What a story! You guys are going to be together forever; you know that right? It’s destined after your kind of connection.”
Kendall’s enthusiasm is amazing. We spend nearly half an hour talking. When I feel Daddy’s hands on my shoulder, I realize everyone in the room has shifted outside.
“Ready to join the rest of the boys? They’re waiting to roast s’mores with you,” he tells me.
“S’mores?” Kendall perks up.
Daddy gives him a curious look as he nods. “Yes. There’s plenty for you too if you want?—”
“Kendall. His name is Kendall, Daddy.”
“Hello, Kendall. You’re welcome to come outside as well. Everyone is welcome.”
My new friend bounces in his chair for a minute before standing. “I’m in! Lead me to the chocolate, Monty and Monty’s man.”
“You found a friend, Brat? I’m not surprised one bit.”
I push to standing, then lean forward onto Daddy’s chest. “He found me, actually. I’m not a beacon for all the brats in the area.”
Kendall mock whispers, “You kind of are though. I’m not a brat, but I could sense the vibes.”
“Hey! You have to take my side, not his.”
At my words, my new friend raises his hand and backs up towards the outer doors. “I’ll just get a head start.”
In a blink, he spins around and jogs away. Daddy and I share a look, then laugh at how cute he was. I don’t know who else Kendall is attached to besides Tank, but hopefully he’ll be around more.
“Where’s our princess?”
Daddy turns me around to face the windows. Instantly, I see our boy dancing around with bags of marshmallows in his hands. He’s joined by Finn, Raymond, Jake, and Rodney. Atlas, Timothy, and Jett sit close by, though they’re not dancing. The others sit around the fire pit watching with big smiles.
“You talk about me finding my people, but that boy out there can get into trouble anywhere we go,” I point out.
“I wouldn’t call him being playful trouble.” Daddy goes still for a second before adding, “At least not all the time. This is just a sugar high. He’ll be asleep before we even make it home.”
We slowly make our way outside. The cane helps with movement; however, I still need to take it slow, or I risk slipping. Another fall right now would be career ending.
The thought should terrify me.
Football is all I ever really loved and was committed to.
But then I look at my men, and I know there’s more to life. Maybe this injury isn’t the end of my career. It’s more of a pause.
It’s also the beginning of something beautiful.
Once we step through the back door, we’re spotted by our partner. He hops right over and wraps his arm around us. It’s then I notice he’s got Lahmay, his stuffed llama tucked tight under his arm. He’s obsessed with the fluffy ball of cuteness. It goes pretty much everywhere we do.
“Are you excited about s’mores? I’m so ready.
Chocolate is delicious. Finn gets double chocolate because it’s his birthday.
His Daddy said so. Should I not call him that though?
Maybe I should call him uncle. I’ve heard it’s a kinky thing.
Uncle Bellamy? Yeah, that sounds right.” Before either of us can answer his run-on sentences, he looks over his shoulder and shouts, “Uncle Bellamy!!”
Bellport’s head pops up with an amused glint. “Yes, Danny?”
“Just seeing if it worked. Also, I want to be called Princess Danny when with my friends. If Princess Aster can do it, I can too.”
“There is only one Princess Aster, though,” Kendall jumps in to say.
“Well, yeah. It’s more about how I enjoy the title. I’m going to call the Daddies by the title uncle since we’re all one big family anyway. Sounds good, right?” My boyfriend looks to the other boys who all nod in agreement.
Daddy jumps in right as our princess opens his mouth to give another round of information. “Why don’t we go settle to make our s’mores? If you still have a bunch of energy in a few minutes, you can take off your shoes and go run in the yard.”
“Ok, Daddy.” Our princess tosses the bags of marshmallows in his hands over to Jett, who is sitting quietly with my brother in his lap. “Hold those for me brother-in-law. I need to cuddle my men. They’ve missed me.”
Jett nods solemnly as he holds the bags as if he’s protecting the ball in a game. I laugh at the sight even as I’m dragged over to an empty set of chairs.
This life of mine is never boring. And I know no matter what comes next, I’ve got two amazing men supporting me through it all.
At the thought, I reach out to grab Daddy’s arm. “I just… I think I know what to call my project.”
The project being the volunteer efforts we had to get help on recently. While the team was more than happy to step in during my absence, I’m eager to get back to things. Those kids are important to me. I never want a single one of them to feel think they’re alone.
“What are you going to call it?”
“Bellport Beginnings.”
Daddy’s smile grows at the name. “That’s perfect. I’m in full support.”
Our princess chooses this moment to squish between us. He sits in Daddy’s lap while tugging my hands into his.
“What are we supporting? I want to be involved. You’re my people. I need to make sure you’ve got proper numbers in case there’s a tie.”
I let out a genuine laugh at the ease of which he agrees with us. It’s a comfort to be surrounded by this level of encouragement.
There isn’t a better set of partners for me. I don’t need to keep looking to know it. Skye and Danny are my forever.
