Page 29 of Their Perfect Daddy

SKYE

I watch as my princess carefully tears the page from the coloring book. He’s moving at a snail’s pace to prevent any damage from befalling the artwork.

The gorgeous forest piece is done in shades of greens and brown. He’s managed to bring it to life in a beautiful and haunting way. And while there’s a lot to be said about it, I still see bits of his Little self in the image.

Coloring outside of the lines.

Overlapping shades when he picked up the wrong color.

His wiggly signature in the bottom corner.

It all adds up to make the image so uniquely Danny. My heart soars for how safe he feels to express himself this way.

“Here, Daddy!” He holds the page out to me, his smile making his face light up.

“Thank you, Princess. I love this one.”

“More than the others?”

“Not more. Just as much. They’re all perfect.”

He huffs, as if my answer is both good and bad. Rather than argue with me further, he hunts for the next image he wants to complete.

Leaving him to it, I take the drawing with me over to the bed where Monty is propped up with his Game Boy. As soon as I drop down beside him, he leans over to look at the picture.

“I give it five stars,” he tells me loudly. Danny grins over at us before going back to his search. In a lower register, he asks me, “What’s bothering you, Daddy? You have your thinking face on.”

“My thinking face?”

“Yeah. The one you do when you’re getting ready to say something you think one of us won’t like. It’s kind of like this.” He gets a faraway look in his eyes and scrunches his brow a bit.

With a shake of my head, I scoot closer to him. This time, I keep my voice low as well.

“I wanted to ask how you felt about something. It’s ok if you’re not a fan of the idea.”

My brat rolls his eyes. “Unless it’s going vegan or something, I’m sure it’s fine.”

“Vegan is where you draw the line?”

“Yes! Bacon is a delicacy. I refuse to give it up. Also, I’m a big fan of brisket and chili. You’ll have to pry them from my cold, dead hands.” His growl would be threatening if he weren’t bedbound and grinning at me.

Danny gasps from across the room. “Is that a bear?! I heard a growl.”

“No bear here, Princess. Only a cranky brat,” I call out.

He goes back to his colors, leaving me to deal with a gloating Monty. “Our princess thought I was a bear.”

At his teasing tone, I shake my head. “Moving on—I wanted to see if you were ok with me hanging up some of Danny’s drawings around the house.

I think it would be good for him to see them in a couple of places.

Here and there, you know. The two on the fridge are great.

He lights up every time he goes to get something.

I want to give him the same feeling in other places. ”

Instead of answering me, my brat pulls out his phone. He presses rapidly against the screen, his gaze scanning whatever he’s searching for.

“Care to share with me what you’re doing?” I ask as I lean closer to get a peek.

“I’m ordering frames for them. I need to find… ah! There we go. A pack of forty should do it, right, Daddy?”

My jaw nearly drops open at the gesture. Since I’m lost for words, I give him a nod of encouragement.

He smiles as he adds the items to his cart. With a few more taps, he’s secured them for delivery in a few hours.

The second he stops looking at his phone, I pull him into a kiss. It’s not meant to be seductive or lead to anything more. I’m too overwhelmed with emotion to not show him how much his actions mean to me.

And I know Danny will love it too. Our princess deserves to be spoiled rotten.

A few hours later, there’s a knock at the door. Since I already know what it is, I rush downstairs before Danny can. Considering he’s moved from coloring to snuggling with Monty, there isn’t much of a fight.

I lug the box of frames up the stairs. In the bedroom, I ease them down on the corner and motion to Monty to pause their movie.

“What’s going on here?” Danny asks as he eases closer to the box, slipping out of his Little side.

I grip the edge of the box. The loud ripping sound has Monty screeching like I’ve just gone to battle. It also eases the worry on our princess’s face.

“Show him! Show him, Daddy!” Monty bounces on the bed.

Pretending to scowl, I point a finger at him. “Don’t you dare hurt yourself, Brat.”

He stops moving as he raises his hands and gives me a wide-eyed stare. “I’ll be good if you OPEN THE BOX please.”

Danny giggles at the outburst and moves closer to Monty. I suspect it’s so he can use some of his happy energy to calm things down.

Once they’re both seated, I lift the sides of the box. Reaching in, I grab one of the plastic wrapped frames. Danny’s look of confusion deepens when he sees what I’ve got.

Scrambling over, he leans forward to look inside. “It’s a box of… frames? What do we need this many for?”

The question is hesitant. It’s almost like our princess already knows what we’ve planned. Knowing his ability to eavesdrop, he might.

“We got the frames for your drawings,” Monty says.

“My drawings? The stuff I colored?”

I nod. “Correct, Princess. We want to show off the beautiful artwork you’ve made for us.”

“Daddy suggested we hang a couple up around the house. But I know better. He really wants to hang them all. How can we possibly pick which ones to use?!”

Monty throws his hands up like it’s the most difficult decision in the world. I chuckle and ease the frame back into the box. Danny’s bottom lip quivers as his gaze bounces between me and Monty.

Our princess is overwhelmed by the gift He doesn’t know what to make of us putting him front and center. Even though we’ve told him time and time again how important and valuable he is to this relationship, I have a feeling it hasn’t truly sunk in until now.

Wrapping him in my arms, I shift us until we’re all piled on the bed. I’m careful not to hurt Monty as I do. My boys snuggle close, each of them clutching me to make sure I don’t leave them.

“You’re important to us, Princess. We want to celebrate you as much as we do ourselves. I’m excited to pick all the places to hang everything. I almost wish we had a room dedicated to it like how the library is.”

The idea had come to me after Monty ordered in bulk. Forty frames is a lot to position around a home. Placement would be hard to navigate.

But an entire room dedicated to such is easier.

Monty gasps and squeezes the hold he has on my forearm. “Daddy! You’re brilliant. We’ll make the game room his artwork room. It’s perfect.”

Danny shakes his head. “No, we can’t. It’s where the team and everyone goes when you throw parties. They’ll see them all and know about…”

“No they won’t,” Monty replies. “Because I’m not having any more parties like I used to. If they’re not cool with having a chill night, then they’ll have to go somewhere else.”

I’m lost for words at his announcement. Danny doesn’t have the same problem. He turns in Monty’s arms and plants a hard kiss against his lips.

“Thank you, Monty. This was very un-brat like of you.”

“Be sure to thank Daddy too,” Monty rumbles.

I have about two seconds to brace myself before my princess launches himself at me. Kisses are pressed all over my face to the point my glasses become askew. Monty claps and laughs, encouraging the onslaught to continue. I allow it a bit longer, then I take control of things.

The minute I halt my boy’s movements, he relaxes in my hold. I devour his mouth, leaving him trembling in my arms.

When I pull back, his eyes are hooded. “Daddy,” he whimpers.

“We’ll take care of you soon, Princess. First, we need Monty to tell us what he means about stopping his parties.” I turn us both to face the man in question.

“It’s not a short story.”

Danny wiggles in my grip. “We’ve got nothing but time. Tell us, Brat. Daddy won’t fuck us until you do. Don’t you want his cock?”

“Always.” Monty’s reply is quick, letting me know it’s the honest truth.

Grinning, I tip my head toward him. “Then I suggest you get to the point, so I can get to mine.”
