“Is it a title you want to use all the time?” He bites his lip. “We were doing research, and it said it wasn’t always a full-time thing. We didn’t want to do it wrong.”

Rather than answer him, I give Monty a raised brow. “You were researching?”

“Yeah, we were. I know some stuff because of… well, because of other people. But I’ve never been in a kinky relationship. I had questions. Have questions.”

“And I’ll answer all of them I can. If I don’t have an answer, I know how to find the answer. It’s probably best you reach out to me instead of random sites online for now. There’s a lot of misinformation out there. I don’t want either of you worried or intimidated by those posts.”

Danny nods quickly. “Some of it was a little scary.”

“It was, but we agreed to talk it out.” Monty’s voice is gentle, as if to encourage the other boy in my arms.

I smile at the way they’ve already worked together to figure out what they need. It’s additional proof of how well we work together.

“Let’s get inside before someone pops up to take a photo of us,” I suggest. It’s a strong enough idea to get them both scurrying back to the door.

Following them, I make a mental list of everything I need to discuss. First we need to decide on dinner, which I’ll likely order in. There’s too much we need to go over for me to attempt to focus on cooking.

Second on my list is an explanation of the Daddy/boy dynamic. I’m frustrated with myself for not thinking to do it sooner. It was irresponsible of me to assume they understood.

Monty locks the door behind us, then grabs my hand to lead me into the living room. Danny skips beside us, his arms swinging, thereby making it impossible to include him in the hand holding.

Our princess has lots of energy tonight. I wonder if it’s excitement or sugar induced. Could be both, honestly.

Dropping onto the couch, I pat the spots beside me. Monty bounces onto the one closest to him while Danny frowns at me.

“He wants to sit in your lap,” Monty announces. “He was in mine before you got here. I think it’s part of his regression stuff.”

Ah, yes.

“You can always sit in Daddy’s lap if you want, Princess.” The minute the words leave my lips, he twirls and drops gently onto me.

Monty laughs and scoots closer. Huddled together, I bask in the feel of being exactly where I’m meant to be. That holiday party changed everything. Now I have to make sure I explain things well enough to keep these two blessings a part of my life.

“I need to know what you want for dinner before I go over things between us. If you can’t agree, then I’ll pick for you. I’d like you to try though.”

The boys share a look, then turn to face me. Together, they say, “Pizza!”

Then Monty quickly adds, “And cheese bread with dipping sauce.”

This moment will stay in my mind for a long, long time. I can’t imagine a more perfect first official date between us.

“Pizza it is then. I’m guessing meat lovers for my brat and extra cheesy for our princess.” They nod and then settle in playing thumb war while I order with the app on my phone. By the time I’ve finished, Monty is huffing about how Danny is too strong to beat.

We all know this isn’t the case at all. Monty is very clearly the stronger of the two. The fact that he’s pretending has my smile widening. He’s the perfect Middle to match Danny’s Little side.

I place my hands over theirs before they can start another round. “Why don’t we go over things while we wait on the food?”

They immediately sit up straighter, their gazes on me like I’m teaching them the most interesting subject known to man. For them, it might just be.

A lot of people don’t realize they’ve buried a part of themselves to fit into society’s standards. Life will sometimes grant them a peek into the alternate reality they could have. It’s then their minds open to a whole new world.

Some people accept the new life. Others deny it and keep going as they were.

And a few really lucky ones stumble into it with the best-case scenario of their dreams. I definitely fall into the latter.

I start with the basics of kink, explaining what it all entails. “There is no definite path for this. Everyone has a different journey and different things they get out of their experiences,” I tell them.

From there, I go into some safety details along with a disclaimer to ensure they aren’t ashamed by anything they find appealing. Too many people get kink shamed early on. It throws off their true desires, making it harder on them and all their future partners.

The pizza arrives right as I’m about to go over limits. I decide it’s as good a time as any to take a break.

Except fate has other plans for us. I’m opening the first pizza box when my phone rings with my brother’s ringtone.

“Gale?” I answer, curious as to why he’s calling so late.

“Skye.”

His voice breaks with my name. I’m immediately on alert.

“What’s wrong? Are you hurt?”

The boys beside me freeze in their playing to watch me with wide eyes. If I weren’t terrified about the answer my brother is about to give me, then I’d have the ability to tell them it’s going to be ok.

As it is, I’m all out of answers.

“It’s Poppy. She’s… fuck. She’s in the hospital. It’s not looking good. They had to save the baby first, and then there was the blood.”

“Baby? What baby? What about the wedding?” My sister wasn’t pregnant. She couldn’t be. We talk often enough it would have come up. We were supposed to be getting save the date cards, not gender reveal news.

He grunts. “She is. She was. And she didn’t even fucking know it. The doctor gave it some kind of name. I can’t remember it now.”

“Stealth pregnancy,” I answer automatically. They’re rare enough I’ve only come across one in all my years practicing.

“That’s the one. Well, she had that. When the pain became too intense, she went to the ER thinking it was her appendix. Our sister went on a fucking vacation and is now coming home with a baby.”

“Oh, Poppy.”

“Yeah. That’s what I said. There were complications in the delivery room. I don’t know ‘cause I didn’t make it here until things went to shit. Daisy and Dewey were with her though. They were in the room, Skye.”

I hang my head at his words. If there were two people the least equipped to deal with something like this, it’s the twins.

Not because they aren’t capable, but because it’s triggering as fuck for them.

They had an accident as teens that kept them in the hospital for a while.

Since then, it’s been a tough thing for them.

“Which hospital is she in? I need to get on a flight. Have you spoken to the doctor? Where is her fucking fiancé?!” I rattle off the questions in a rush.

Small hands grab my face. It’s then I realize I’m crying.

Panic isn’t helpful right now. I need to remain calm and focused. My sister needs me there. Even if I don’t have rights in the hospital to work on her, I can help interpret the information for my family.

“I’m ok, Princess,” I say softly.

“Princess? Are you on a date? Oh, fuck. I’m sorry?—”

Monty snatches the phone from my hand. “Don’t worry about it. The three of us only just got dinner. We’ll get him fed while he books a flight. Then we’ll send him to you. Be sure to take care of him. That or I’ll send some of my bigger scarier friends your way, pal.”

At any other moment, I’d be laughing at how ridiculous it is that my brat is threatening my brother. Instead, I’m trying to stop the tears as the sweet boy in front of me fights his own. When his bottom lip trembles, I get ahold of myself.

Taking a deep breath, I lean over and kiss him softly. Monty is still talking to Gale, hopefully with less threats and more details of where I need to be. I’m too ruffled to focus yet.

“Eat,” Danny demands as he holds up a slice of pizza to my lips.

Like a baby bird, I open my mouth to take a bite. The food has little taste. Despite the lack of flavor, I know it’s necessary.

“We’ll be in touch. I’ll send you my number, too, in case you need to reach us for something. Nice meeting you, Gale.” Monty hangs up the phone to the sound of my brother’s groan.

That gets a small smile out of me. My brat sees it, then does a small bow as if to say he did that on purpose.

“How many pieces did Daddy eat?” He directs the question at our princess.

Danny holds up two fingers, then curls a third awkwardly. “Two and a half.”

I shake my head. “It’s enough for now. Anything more is going to upset my stomach. Did you get the details I need? I’ve really got to book the flight.”

“It’s already done,” Monty replies as he turns my phone toward me. “I told Gale he needed to handle it for you. He sent the details to you so all we have to do now is get you packed, then drive you to the airport. We’re going to work together, ok?”

The amount of love that swells through me is staggering. I nearly bowl over with it.

Instead of declaring how I want to spend eternity worshipping them, I nod and say, “Sounds good.”

A half an hour later, I’m packed up and in the back seat of my own car as Monty drives us to the airport. Danny is tucked into my side, his fingers making patterns on my pants.

“Oh, shit! I need to let work know. My shifts need to be covered.”

“I can do that part, Daddy,” my boy says eagerly. “Gimme the phone.”

Handing the device over to my princess, I watch as he shoots texts to the contacts labeled boss and supervisor. I knew being organized would eventually pay off.

At the drop-off lane, I take a minute to take in my two men. The fact that they jumped in to help me when I needed it bodes well for our future. Though we’ll be apart for an unknown amount of time—because I can’t say until I see Poppy—I know we’ll be fine.

“You both need to be good. I want all the texts, videos, and voice notes. Don’t leave a single detail of your days out.” I take a deep breath as I hold out my arms. “I’m going to miss you both.”

“Miss you already,” Danny says.

Monty mutters, “Same.”

Pulling away from them is hard. Walking into the terminal entrance is even harder.
