We spent the next day cooking together to restock my stash of freezer meals. When heat hit, we rode it out together, enjoying every damn minute.
Around two PM the next day, we finally got out of bed and had breakfast. Nova convinced me to shift with her afterward, and though I was reluctant, I was trying to figure out whether or not she was right about my beast.
Our wolves stayed in the forest all day, coming back well into the night.
We shifted again the next day.
And the next.
And the next.
As uncomfortable as it was for me, it felt a little easier every time.
And I felt a little more… normal.
Sane was still a stretch, but closer to normal still felt foreign. A foreign improvement, though.
Through all of it, Nova stayed with me.
She joked with me.
Teased me.
Distracted me.
The woman was everything I could have ever wanted, and then some.
And as worried as I was, I was ready to make her mine. Permanently. In every possible way.
