“Anywhere you like, amore. Your wish is my command.”
ChapterTwelve
Wyatt May 21st 2009 (early-early morning)
This time the screaming isn’t from me. I rouse to a clawing, thrashing Asher. Darius is nowhere to be found. He needs to stop leaving us alone in the middle of the night.
Asher’s cries are harrowed and broken. It’s instinct for me to grip his arm. “Asher?Asher.”
“Huh? W-What?”
“You were having a nightmare.”
He’s up with a jolt, scrambling up the bed. “Wyatt? Where’s Ari?” He’s frantic as he looks around lost in a bog of sleep-tangled confusion.
“Don’t know.”
I see the moment he wakes up and when the confusion transforms into anger. “I’m gonna murder him. God dammit.”
He climbs out of bed and another round of chase the brats has begun. His feet are loud as he storms down the hall to “his” bedroom. I guess that’s where he finds Darius because then there’s shouting. I get up to knock their heads together just as the door to Simon and Shane’s bedroom opens to reveal a bedraggled Shane. “You got them?”
“I do. Sorry.”
“Don’t apologize ‘bout them. We’re all used to it, but if you don’t straighten them out, I will.”
“I’m gonna straighten them out all right.”
I slip into the room; the lamplight blinds me having come from sheer darkness. “What’s going on?” I whisper-yell.
“I was just reading in here for a bit. I was coming back,” Darius says.
“You can’t leave like that,” Asher says.
“Come back to the room, both of you. We’ll sort it out there.” Where it’s dark and where we’re less likely to disturb Simon and Shane.
Darius turns the light off, which improves the blindness situation and Asher reluctantly follows us back to the other room. I rub my eyes, pointing to the bed, indicating they should sit. “It’s nothing he needs to be embarrassed about,” Darius says.
“That’s not for you to say,” I point out.
“We all do it. It was you the other night. Me a few nights before that. It was his turn.”
God, we sleep like shit. “Maybe we need our own rooms.”
“No,” they both say. Least they agree on that.
“How about you two here, and I’ll sleep in the other room?”
“No,” Darius says. Asher doesn’t say “no” but he doesn’t say “yes” either. “Look, how about we just try again? I couldn’t sleep. That’s the only reason I went to the other room—to read my book and masturbate to a sweet fantasy I had earlier of you keeping all the hot fire force men in line with your cock and lots of spanking. I was gonna come back.”
I look skyward for some strength. “That all right with you, Asher?”
He nods. Good lord. “Okay, get in bed.”
They climb in together, and Darius wraps himself around Asher. I don’t know how they sleep like that in this heat. It’s bad enough with the three of us in the bed together. I crawl onto the other side of Darius, prepared to sleep several inches away from them where I won’t turn into a lake of sweat.
“No, Major. You’re supposed to wrap around me,” Darius says.
“Aw, darlin’. It’s too hot.”
