The Hidden Journal of John Dee
T oday, after a most intense scrying session with Edward, he received word that the device Giordano and I have labored upon these many years must be completed before the Pope enacts his new Gregorian calendar come the next month.
Once the calendar shifts forward by ten days, each of our carefully wrought calculations shall need altering.
Edward relayed to me that these celestial alignments will remain sound only if bound to the Julian calendar.
Through Edward’s communion with the angelic hosts, we have been exhorted to press forward with haste, for time grows short.
Yet here I labor alone, as Giordano has been summoned to the court in Paris, the King insisting upon his presence to discourse on matters of philosophy and religion.
Alas, there is neither time nor means for him to lend his hand in this final hour; thus, the Astral Synchronum’s completion falls solely upon me.
Though only a few remaining adjustments are needed, they are of utmost importance if the device is to function as intended and open the portal between realms.
For should even the smallest calculation be flawed, the consequence could be most dire.
The angels warned that an error, however slight, might do more than simply disrupt the device; it could bring chaos to the heavens themselves, tearing asunder the delicate bonds of space and time.
Therefore, I must ensure that all is in perfect order before the device is set into motion, lest we risk a calamity that no man may reverse.
By my reckonings, just one final astrological setting remains to be secured, along with an amendment to a prior alignment wherein I miscalculated the original calibration of its inner workings.
These last tasks, though within my ability to accomplish alone, would greatly benefit from Giordano’s sure hand, so well-suited to such delicate refinements.
Yet I shall press on, guided by the counsel received, that all may be finished in due course, and without any errors that could unravel more than my own life’s work.
