The Hidden Journal of John Dee

A fter filling more than a quarter of this notebook with meticulous calculations and rigorously double- and triple-checking every detail of the work Giordano and I have undertaken, I am convinced that the Astral Synchronum is finally complete.

Giordano is expected to return to Mortlake within the week, and upon his arrival, he will conduct the final inspection before we set off for Dunblane, Scotland, to test the device.

In his latest scrying session, Edward received urgent instructions: we are to operate the Astral Synchronum solely within the sacred walls of Dunblane Cathedral.

Under the protection of Archangel Michael, this hallowed place serves as a focal point of divine energy.

Built in the twelfth century, the cathedral was renowned for its tales of miraculous healings and sightings of the divine, such as the fourteenth-century weaver who rose from prayer to find his lifelong limp healed or the veiled figure seen in the stained-glass glow during a storm, after which the village’s frozen crops were mysteriously spared.

Making it no surprise that the angels have guided us to initiate our work here.

Though the journey will be long, if we depart upon Giordano’s return, we shall arrive before the new calendar is set into motion.

As we stand on the brink of discovery, I feel a swell of anticipation. This is not merely a test of a device; it is a moment that may forever alter our understanding of the cosmos itself, and if all goes as planned, open a pathway to communicate with the divine.
