Page 119 of Tethered Souls
Gather enough evidence for Varius to believe me over him?
Or am I about to lose everything?
About to risk it all for a man who won’t risk it back?
Dammit, Micha. You’re being a fucking fool.
Maybe.
Maybe...
But he’smine, and I will fight to the ends of the earth to save him.
Forty-Two
HIM
We’re going to lose everything.
Khalid got Cid to talk, and now we know what Antonio is up to. He’s trying to make fucking hybrids. Vampire and werewolf – something that should be utterly impossible as a wolf’s fluids are poisonous to a vampire.
But that would explain the state we found Jerry in – his skin peeling off, his entire body turning to slush. He was forced to fuck a female wolf, to poison himself over and over until he was no longer able to perform. Then he was discarded like yesterday's trash.
So we’re all strapping up, getting ready to hunt Antonio down.
If he actually manages to create the army he wants, he’ll grab the archangels’ attention, and they will kill us all. The Shadow Domain. The Blood Fangs. The Death Hunt. Every sup in a hundred mile radius just to be sure the information on how to breed them dies with us.
“What the fuck is he thinking?” Talon hisses, electricity crackling in his fingers. The air buzzes with his anger. My phone glitches in and out, and I want to hit the fucker, lash out with my own anger.
I was trying to text Micha, dammit. I think I finally found the right words that time, and now they’re all gone. And I wrote a long ass paragraph too. Fighting back the urge to strangle him, I shove my phone into my pocket.
She’ll be back soon,I tell myself. Just another few hours.I’ll talk to her then.
“Aw,” Maddox teases Talon as he grabs a few blue vials off the kitchen counter – healing potions made by Mother. “You look like you’ve just found out your mistress has been two-timing you behind your back. I’d say girlfriend, but it’s the Death Hunt. They’re not exactly girlfriend material.”
Talon glares at him. “Says the asshole jacking off with a werewolf’s panties every night. You can at least do it in your fucking room.”
“Don’t want to see it? Don’t come out at night. Or blame Varius. It’s his fault I’m out there in the first place.” Ducking his head as he swipes another few potions, Maddox mutters, “Marrabelle still won’t shut up about your damn show.”
A small grin pulls at my lips, so minuscule none of them can see it. I grab a few portions myself, blue for healing and shielding, red for dealing damage. What I’m really waiting on, though, are the cursed tools from Khalid. He’s not here yet, still upstairs getting ready, as are our other brothers.
Walking into the kitchen, Rudy clearly catches the last part of the conversation as he signs, “Why don’t you give her another show to talk about then? Put on a porno. You can ask Talon for recs. He’s into the nasty.”
Maddox makes a horrified face as he signs, “I don't want to hear about werewolves shitting in each other’s mouths.”
Talon punches him in the shoulder, zapping him with electricity as he does so. Maddox yelps. “For the last fucking time, I don’t watch that!” he bellows.
“I think thee protests too much.” Maddox grins as he dances away from Talon, shaking out his arm.
“Why don’t you shrink yourself then?” Enoch asks as he and his twin stroll in. He pumps his hips as he pretends to hold another’s waist.
“Because then he would end up killing her because she wouldn’t shut up about how bad he was,” Ezriel jokes. “And helikesher.”
Maddox flips him off.
“Works for me if it gets him out of the damn living room,” T mutters.
“Just let Krypto in there. He’s been dying to eat her.” Enoch laughs.
