Page 2 of Tempt Me
“Ew! You creep!” She steadied herself and got to her feet.
“I was just answering you.” I shrugged. “No need for violence.”
She glared at me, those green eyes piercing and beautiful.
“You wish.” She scoffed. “I don’t fuck ugly weirdos who are loitering in graveyards.”
I got to my feet, pushing her against a large gravestone. Her breath caught as she stared at my face, trying to figure out what I was doing.
“I happen to think I’m pretty as fuck,” I said against her shoulder, leaning forward and blocking the light from the sun with my body.
Her heart was beating out of her chest, and the rhythmic thrumming was audible in the closed space, as well as her slightly elevated breathing.
“You’re ugly and delusional. A real catch there, stranger.” Her glare glowed in the shadows.
I smirked, opening my arm for her, but she shoved out from underneath me.
“For the record, I was simply lying here. You are the one who attacked me.”
She turned around and flipped her hair over her shoulder, the long, pure threads going past her delicious-looking breasts. “Oh, right! Forgive me. Not loitering but stalking.”
“You’re quite dramatic. Has anyone ever told you that? A real exhibitionist.” Walking toward her, I smiled wide, ensuring she looked me right in the eyes. “Don’t worry though. Lucky for you, I enjoyed the show.”
Two
Strength: The capacity of an object or person to withstand great force or pressure.
But for how long can one stand strong?
“Fallon! Get your lazy ass up!”
I groaned and swatted at the air, my anger already stirring in my gut. I didn’t even want to go to college.
“I’m up!” I hollered back, turning over and yanking the blanket over my head.
“Ferdinand will be here any minute to take you to the university! I suggest you don’t make him wait.”
Rolling my eyes and waiting a solid four minutes later to piss off my sister further, I finally wiggled myself out from underneath my covers and walked to my vanity. My hair was a frizzy disaster, and I didn’t leave myself enough time to shower, so throwing it in a knot on my head was my best option.
Staring at my glaring reflection, I sighed. The yellowing bruises were nearly gone, at least, but I added foundation to my make-up sponge and covered the remnants of my discolored skin anyway.
Good enough.
Francis came to my door, rapping on the wood as if it offended her. I rolled my eyes and yanked my stockings up my legs.
“Fuck off, would you? I just need my mascara,” I said, directing my attention to the door.
She did not, in fact, fuck off. Instead, my annoying big sister barged into my room and tapped her wrist. “C’mon, sleeping beauty. Your prince charming is outside.”
I peered over, looking out my window. Sure enough, the black, way too expensive car was parked outside, and I could hear the horn blaring now.
Oh, for fuck’s sake!
After taking one last look at my half-assed updo, my mediocre makeup skills, and my university prep school uniform, I stood up and saluted my sister with my middle finger positioned at my temple. “Don’t you have better things to do than bother college students all day?”
She returned my smile and condescendingly patted my head as I slid on my shoes.
“Nope. Sure, don’t. My job that pays for your ungrateful ass doesn’t start until 10:00 AM.”
