“And remember I said I’d never done that before?”

She narrowed her eyes slightly. “Youhaddone it before.”

“Yeah.”

She curled her bottom lip between her teeth.

Well, that’s notsobad.

She actually found it kind of cute that he felt the need to confess something that seemed to have nothing to do with her.

“Well, Nick that’s kind of inappropriate as a business owner, but it hardly makes you a bad person.”

She noticed he still looked incredibly nervous so her curiosity was piqued.

“So was it, like, just once or a few times, or was it a major …thing?”

He flicked a glance at her face. “It was kind of a major thing.”

“How major? Like how often do you do that?”

He drew in his breath. “Like at least once a day. Sometimes uh … more.”

Her stomach did an uncomfortable twist.

“Several times aday?”

He bit his lip, releasing it along with a small puff of air. “Yeah.”

“As in.” She paused, trying not to be too judgmental. Unfortunately, her mouth didn’t quite get the message. “As in, actually havingsexwith multiple different peopleeach day?”

She could hardly wrap her brain around the concept of being soactive.

He cringed. “Yeah.”

“Wow.” She opted to simply snap her mouth shut, not wanting to make him feel worse for behavior he was clearly so sheepish about.

“Yeah.”

She kept her mouth shut for a while, but then she noticed he was still wringing his hands, which caused her mind to reel until it landed on a distinct possibility.

“So,” she began cautiously. “Does that mean you like, did that with other people the same daywealmost did?”

He pursed his lips. “Yeah.”

“Really.”

He nodded.

“Even after me?”

“Um.” His gaze shifted right, then back to her face. “Well, not that night, no.”

She raised her eyebrows and cocked her head. “But while we were seeing each other.”

“Not exactly, but kind of.”

She felt her cheeks grow hot and she flipped a palm in exasperation. “What the heck does that mean? You were either hooking up with people or you weren’t.”
