“Fuck you! You could have just walked the fuck away.”

Rain’s eyes widened, “You killed twenty-eight people, Danny. How the fuck does someone just walk away from that? Those people were someone’s brother…

sister… son… daughter, and you just… you just killed them.

” Rain shook his head, rasping as the images of so many dead bodies filled his mind once again.

“They went to a birthday party, Danny. You had no beef with them and you just killed them… as if they were nothing. Somehow, I don’t think their loved ones felt the same. ”

Regret of his words hit Rain when Danny’s eyes went tight with anger, as he growled, “Where is Noah?”

No words came out of Rain’s mouth.

Danny took a threatening step towards Rain, snarling, “Where is my son!”

Instead of answering, Rain snapped, “What do you care? Because of you and your bullshit, he’s being hunted.”

Danny got in Rain’s face and took his throat in hand, leaned in, hissing, “He is my son. I’ve done everything I can to keep him safe. Now where the fuck is my son?”

“I wouldn’t tell you shit even if I did know.” Rain ground out, his legs shaking so bad he knew he wouldn’t be able to stand if Danny didn’t have the hold on him, he did, even if it was making it very difficult to breathe.

The moment Danny pulled out his gun and placed the barrel to his head, Rain knew he was going to die.

Thoughts of his mate filled his mind and then a whispering, “Little mouse, where are you guys? We have the men in custody. It’s safe to come out now.”

Fuck, how had Rain forgotten about their mind link? He was so stupid. He should have remembered… maybe… no, he couldn’t think about that. Right now he had to tell his mate his final words.

A tear rolled down his cheek as he whispered, “I… I wish it were. I’m sorry. I…I wish we’d had more time together, Wyatt. You… You’re a wonderful mate and an even better man.”

“Rain? What the fuck is going on? Where are you?” Wyatt asked in a panic.

“I know I’ve been giving you mixed signals about moving to Montana, but that was only because I was worried about what I might bring to Drago… if they’d accept me.”

“Damn it, Rain, stop talking as if you’re going to die! You are not going to die. I’m coming, baby. I’m coming. Just hold on for me,” Wyatt begged.

“I asked you a question, motherfucker! Where is my son!” Danny snarled.

The door to the cubby hole swung open, as Noah shouted, “Don’t shoot him! Don’t shoot him! I’m right here.”

Danny turned quickly holding the gun to Rain’s head as his back pressed against the man’s chest. “Noah, we need to get out of here.”

“The only place anyone is going around here is you, Danny… and that place is back to prison where you belong,” Jude said as he jumped from the cubby hole they’d been hiding in.

Everything happened so quick, but it seemed in slow motion as Danny leveled his gun onto Jude.

Without giving it a thought, Rain grabbed Danny’s gun hand and lifted it up, slammed his head into Danny’s face so hard he heard bone break as the door to the room was kicked open and Wyatt was on Danny like flies on shit.

Noah screamed as he covered his ears, the gun went off, and all Rain could do was scream his mate’s name. However, it wasn’t Wyatt that dropped to his knees and fell to the ground, it was Danny.

“Shit!” Jude snapped as he rushed to Danny, shoving Wyatt to the side, snapping, “Move it!” Then without taking his eyes off of Danny, ordered, “Rain, I need your help. Noah, bring me some towels and a couple of wet wash rags. Wyatt, call an ambulance… now!”

No one argued as they all did as they were ordered to do.

“Help me roll the asshole over,” Jude directed.

Rain and Jude worked together to get Danny turned over as Noah rushed back to them holding out the requested items, anxiously asking, “What else can I do?”

“Nothing for now. Just stand back and let us do our jobs,” Jude ordered.

“He needs a doctor. We need to call an ambulance and get him to…”

“I am a doctor, Noah, and Rain here is a nurse practitioner. We’re going to do everything we can to save Danny.

I just need you and everyone else to stay the fuck out of our way and let us do our jobs,” Jude snapped as he handed Rain the towel, “The bullet is still in there, but thankfully it didn’t hit his heart. ”

“How do you know that for sure?” Noah asked.

Jude snorted, “Because he’d already be dead if it did. However, that doesn’t mean the bullet didn’t do other internal damage. My biggest concern is him bleeding out before help can get here.”

“It wouldn’t be a big loss,” Wyatt muttered.

Rain looked up at his mate, saying, “That isn’t helping.”

“I can’t believe you guys are trying to save him after what he did,” Noah said in a small voice.

“I took an oath, Noah. Right now he isn’t the asshole biker gang leader and murderer. He’s an injured man that needs help I can provide. Now, how about you go out there and direct the ambulance over here?” Jude suggested.

Rain and Jude worked on Danny and did their best to keep him stabilized until the ambulance arrived and rushed the man to the hospital.

Wyatt had ordered Asod, Ryan and Ennyd to get their asses to the hospital and ensure Danny didn’t find a way to escape again and then Rain found himself in his mate’s arms, as he hissed, “Don’t you ever try and say goodbye like that again, Rain.”

“I thought I was going to die. He had a gun to my head, and…”

Wyatt pulled back, snapping, “Then you fucking shift. Son of a bitch, Rain, you scared the hell out of me. You had to have taken three hundred years off my life and I don’t appreciate that even a little.”

“But we aren’t supposed to expose ourselves to humans, and I knew I couldn’t shift in front of Danny. No way could I expose our world to him. Who knows what he would do with that information,” Rain insisted.

“I don’t care, Rain,” Wyatt ground out as he pulled Rain into his arms once more, whispering, “There is no use giving me last words, Rain. Without you, I wouldn’t want to live in this world again. My dragon and I would fade just to be with you again. So, next time shift.”

“How about we don’t have a next time? I think I like that idea much better,” Rain murmured into Wyatt’s chest.

“Sounds even better,” Wyatt softly said, squeezing Rain even tighter.
