“Look, my name’s Rain and this is my husband, Wyatt, the snarky one not bothering to take two seconds to kind of explain a bit is Jude, and the man behind him that looks all kinds of scary is his husband, Rance… but we all call him Casper. We’re here because of your father.”

Noah snorted, “My father? What are you talking about? My father died before I was even born.”

Shaking his head, Rain replied, “No, actually he didn’t. He’s alive and well… okay, maybe not well exactly, but he is alive and he’s not a very good man.”

Noah’s eyes bulged, but Rain just kept talking…

and fast. “Look, your father is the leader of a massive and really dangerous biker gang called The Guardian Angels. He didn’t want you caught up in his life because he’s made a lot of enemies and those enemies are out in your woods right now coming for you…

and they want you dead. We’re here to make sure that doesn’t happen. ”

“What the hell? They want me dead, but I don’t even know who this man is, and how do you know he’s my father, anyway, and who are you to him?” Noah asked, and then he gasped, “Oh my god, are you guys part of this Guardian biker gang?”

“Guardian Angels, and no…” Rain answered, “It’s really hard to explain, and like Jude said we really don’t have a lot of time. We need to get you out of here… fast.”

Wyatt nodded, adding, “You currently have a group of men making their way towards this cabin right now, someone blocking the road that gets here, and another man in the woods closer to the river. Now I have my men trying to help out, but it would be best if we got you out of here and into a safe location where we could explain things in more detail.”

Shaking his head, Noah said, “I’m not going anywhere with you people. For all I know, you’re the bad guys and no one is out there at all.”

Noah walked towards the front door intent on ordering them out once more. Rain watched with slumped shoulders of defeat and looked up in time to gasp and rush forward, screaming, “Noah! Get down!”

Noah did stop and turn, but to Wyatt’s horror Rain leaped towards the young man just as the glass shattered next to Noah’s head.

They all dropped to the ground as more gunfire had glass shattering, wood chips splintering and hitting them as well as knickknacks exploded all around them… and the screams of pure terror filled the room.

Anxious for his mate Wyatt looked up in time to see, Rain covering the young man’s body with his own while whispering something in Noah’s ear trying to stop the young man’s screams.

Wyatt knew the moment his dragon took over… there was no way he could control it from happening and barely made it out the door before he shifted and took to the air, leaving the sound of his mate, calling his name behind as the roar of his dragon filled the sky.

Rushing towards the wooded area Ryan was in charge of, Wyatt’s deep gravelly tone of his dragon demanded, “Tell me where they are.”

“Wyatt, you need to…”

“Tell me where they are now!” Wyatt’s dragon demanded of Ryan.

The sound and authority that called for answers had Ryan’s dragon backing down… fast, and answering, “To the west.”

Without wasting time Wyatt turned and lowered himself, ignoring the “What the fucks!” and “Oh shits” coming from his thunder as well as the screams that could be heard as Wyatt spread his wings as wide as the would go, soared lower and let out a billow of fire no human could survive.

“Fuck! Asod, we need you here now! We have a major problem. I think Wyatt’s gone into dragon rage,” Ryan ordered through the link as he flew next to Wyatt, “Wy, come on, man, you have to stop. You’re going to burn the entire fucking street to the ground.”

“They almost killed my mate… twice. It is a death sentence for them all,” Wyatt’s dragon snarled as he blew another billow of fire towards the small running humans below.

Asod was quickly next to Wyatt, snarling, “Knock it off before you bring a death sentence to us all, Wyatt! Your mate is safe and you fucking know it. Stop this now and help me put out this fucking fire before someone notices it and calls the fucking fire department in, if they haven’t already.

You know if we are seen it could mean a death sentence to us all!

Including your fucking mate! Think, motherfucker!

Think! Get control of your motherfucking dragon right now! ”

“Enough! You will stop causing a spectacle of yourself and threatening discovery of us all this instant or I will stop you myself.” The low growl of Smoky’s words brought Wyatt back to himself almost instantly.

Looking down Wyatt saw the fires below and watched as Ryan, Throm and now Asod drew water from where they could, blowing it hard and fast… putting the fire out as quickly as possible, leaving the charred bodies and woods below smoldering and smoking in vast amounts.

Wyatt was still kinda unfocused and trying to understand what had just happened. Looking to Smoky who hadn’t kept his eyes off of him, Wyatt asked, “What just happened?”

“It’s called dragon rage. I’ve seen it happen only a handful of times in my lifetime and it’s never pretty,” Smoky replied as they hovered above, watching as Wyatt’s men continued to put the fire out below them.

Wyatt had heard of dragon rage. His parents had spoken to him about it more than once as did most dragon shifter parents. It was part of the lessons they gave on reasons to control your dragon from within. However, never once had Wyatt ever thought he would have dragon rage himself.

Looking down, Wyatt knew there was no way anyone could have survived what he’d done. Dragon rage brought out dragon breath and to a human… that meant dragon death.

Shame filled Wyatt to his core.

“Stop! Your mate was threatened. It isn’t unexpected that you would lose yourself to your dragon, Wyatt. Whatever you have done here we can fix,” Smoky stated firmly.

“I killed them all, Smoky. I killed those people and burned half the woods down, how the fuck can we fix that?” Wyatt asked, sounding as disgusted with himself as he felt.

“One thing I learned a long time ago, humans do stupid shit and when something seems unexplainable, they find explanations without any help from us.” Smoky stated.

“What will Rain think of me when he finds out he’s mated to a killer? I killed those people,” Wyatt rasped.

Smoky scoffed, “He’ll think you love him enough that you will do anything to keep him safe… and he’ll understand that it was a kill or be killed situation.”

Wyatt didn’t know if he completely believed that, but he also knew there was only one way to find out…

he just didn’t know if he could face his mate right now.

Besides, there was one hell of a mess to clean up…

then a thought hit him. “Smoky, if Asod is here and you are here who’s watching over our mates?

There were still men out in those woods. ”

“You left one of your men at the cabin and Casper is there. Nothing will happen to your Rain nor my Jude,” Smoky stated with assuredness.

Gasping, Wyatt said , “No I didn’t. I wasn’t thinking, Smoky. When I left it meant it was you and Asod!”

“As my beautiful human soul bond often says… shit!” Smoky hissed, “We need to get back there now! Casper is a talented warrior, but seven against one are not good odds even for him.”

Wyatt called to his men, “We need to get back to the cabin. Ryan, you and Throm are in charge of clean up. Asod, you’re with me and Smoky.”

“I told you they are sa…” Smoky quit speaking, and Wyatt knew it wasn’t good and then the dragon said, “We need to go. Now!”

Wyatt didn’t think he could be any more afraid for his mate than he was right now… that was until Rain’s fearful voiced whispered through their mind link. “Danny’s here.”
