Page 130 of Sins of the Orchid
My phone beeped the same second. Grabbing it off my desk, I read the message.
Venezuela.
Meet me at The Orchid.
G.C.
I threw another glance at the television. It featured Amore in a hot pink bikini in Adriano’s arms, both of them laughing carefree and happy. My gaze darkened.
Without another word, I left Adriano behind while Renzo tagged along. My fury blurred my vision as red crept along the edges and simmered hot in my chest like burning coals. He sensed my mood so he kept quiet.
“Jesus Christ,”I muttered under my breath as I debated which car to drive. My eyes roamed over my Range Rover, Maserati, older Aston Martin.
My eyes skimmed over to Renzo to find him wiping a hand across his mouth, hiding his amusement. He knew exactly why I no longer drove most of my cars. He found a pair of Amore’s ripped panties in one, and I almost lost my shit seeing him hold them.
I went to my new Aston Martin Vulcan. I couldn’t stomach driving the cars I had Amore in. The images of her played in my head every time I glanced at them. My heiress on the hood of my car, her legs wrapped around my waist or the two of us inside, fumbling hungrily to rip each other’s clothes off.
I had it bad for Amore Bennetti. If it all failed, I might just have to find another city to dominate, so I could keep my distance from her. I had never failed before, but I had never had so much to lose.
It took me only ten minutes to get to The Orchid. Even this damn club was a constant memory of her.
“What was so urgent that we had to meet right away?” I questioned Gabriel, sliding into a seat.
“I got coordinates for Ulrich in Venezuela,” Carrera answered. “And if we leave today, we might catch him before he ghosts us.”
“How reliable is this source?” I grumbled. “I’m not in the mood for chasing bullshit.”
“Very reliable.”
“What are we waiting for?” I raised an eyebrow.
“We need to leave today, but my private jet is in Africa, so I kind of need your plane to go after him.”
“Not without me, you aren’t,” I grumbled.
There was a very good chance it was the reason Amore was in South America. The fear for her felt like a knife through my chest. I had never felt such dread before, like lead in the pit of my stomach.
Carrera downed his drink. “I thought you might say that. I have two men on the ground.”
We both stood up and headed for the door. “We meet in an hour at the airport,” I told him. “My plane will be the fastest way. I’m bringing Renzo. Do I need extra men on standby?”
“No, we’ll have everything we need on the ground.”
I nodded and headed in the direction of my car.
“One more thing, Russo.” Carrera’s voice stopped me, and I raised my brow. “You won’t like this though.”
“There are quite a lot of things I don’t like lately,” I told him. “No sense breaking the trend.”
Carrera seemed to think this news was even worse than all my others. Nothing was worse than losing my woman to a brother I loved.
“Anderson has a price on Amore’s head.” My jaw locked. “Dead or alive.”
It didn’t surprise me, considering all the brutal messages he’d sent. But the excessiveness of it seemed extreme.
The obsession of the Andersons went beyond reason when it came to Amore Bennetti. They cost Regina her husband, her daughter, and now they were after her only granddaughter. No wonder she was protective of her.
“Amore’s in line to take the Perèz Cartel. After her grandmother.”
