“I don’t know, she just kept walking. I was too freaked out to watch closely.”
“We’ll find her,” Purge soothes. “I’m checking the cameras now.”
“Wait, bro... what cameras?” Trikk asks, confusion etched into his features.
“The ones I’ve found all over the fucking property. Sorry I haven’t said anything yet.”
Synn roars, completely losing control. He palms his phone, almost crushing it in his fist. He hits a call and lifts it to his ear.
“Harris!” he barks. “She’s back! There’s something wrong with her. Ghost said she’s cold.” He listens for a minute, then nods. “Do that!” He hangs up, turning to face us. “The fucker said he will try to bring his ass back.”
Chapter 20
Hunter
My heart rateis out of control. I’m racing to Jax’s office, my heart in my throat. Pretty Girl is back. But the boys said she’s shut down, unfeeling. What the hell could’ve happened to her to strip her of her emotions? I feel like I could puke, out of control of my body. That never happens. Something is really, really off, and I need to find out what right now.
I burst into Jax’s office. "Jax, I just got a call from Synn. Phoenyxx has returned!”
Jax stands abruptly. “Alright, I’ll keep to my word on this. But, Harris—I expect you to conclude your original mission. Now, go pack a bag. I'll have one of our drivers take you back to The Retreat.”
I haul ass out of his office, and make a quick pit stop to the computer room. I owe Thor and Bill an update.
“Guys! Phoenyxx came back! Jax is sending me in.”
Thor stands up so fast, he trips on his chair legs. “Holy shit! Go, man, we got you!”
Bill rolls his eyes. “We’ll be watching.”
I salute them both and run to my room to pack a bag. Finally—my Pretty Girl.
Phoenyxx
I walk slowly through the boys’ dorm, after having done a lap through the courtyard, my intention on the guys apartment. This revenge is a long time coming.
I felt nothing when I saw Ghost. All I wanted to do was make him pay. No emotions whatsoever.
It's so freeing. I can think—plan. I almost laugh to myself as I realize I haven't had a panic attack in a while now. They will all bleed, that is a guarantee.
I stalk up to the door, but before I can open it, it’s yanked open in my face. Synn sees me, going white. He grabs my shirt and pulls me inside.
I just stand there, waiting. “Anyone else here?” I ask, voice even.
“No. What happened to you?”
I laugh hollowly. “Like you care. After what you did? I owe you nothing.” I manage to slide out the switchblade without Synn seeing. I push the button on the side, flicking it open. I hold it slightly behind me. I walk right up to him, looking him dead in the eye.
“Except to make you bleed,” I say, as I reach forward, and slash the blade across his throat. A thin line of blood trickles down his neck. Damn—I didn’t cut deep enough. Note for later. Though I was specifically told I can’t kill them. Pity.
Shock shows in his eyes. “You... cut me? Trying to kill me, Pazessca?”
“You do not have the right to call me that—or question my intentions. This is your only warning.”
I hustle out before he can react. Time to find the others.
I'm on a mission to destroy. Every one of them will hurt. Do they really think what they did was okay? They murdered Valley. They won’t get away with that.
I stroll casually to the admin building, stopping dead center when two of my targets appear. I smile, walking straight up to them.
