I stood aside and watched as he injected something into her arm. “I’m giving her a sedative and an anticonvulsant,” he said, glancing back at me. “Eloise said shespoke?”

“A name. Then she told me to run and said this person would getme.”

Dr. Hicks sighed. “I see. Eloise explained to you how these moments can occur sometimes, didn’tshe?”

“I’m sorry, Logan. I know it probably gave you some hope, but this was probably just a random occurrence,” Hicks said, brows knitted together. “I’ll keep monitoring her, though, and we’ll see how it goes. You neverknow.”

I adjusted my tie and slipped out of the room. Thoughts of Willow clouded my mind. The vision of her downstairs—alone, cold and chained to the floor—made me hard in an instant.
