And she’s taking me with her. She looks me right in the eyes, then whispers my name in a throaty moan, crossing that line into her release.
“I can’t stop.” She gasps. “Ah. God. Yes,Justice.”
I let go of the tether inside of my core.
Come throbs out of me, forcing me to groan loudly.
All the walls I’ve kept up for years crumble, and I’m left shaking in the ruins with her.
For a long moment, neither of us moves. The inside of the SUV is filled with the sound of our breathing, the scent of our arousal.
There’s a tremor in my hands and an earthquake in my heart as I stroke her back.
When she finally speaks, she makes my ego flex.
“Wow.”
“I’ll second that.”
Eyes searching mine, she says. “I don’t think I have words for what that was.”
I manage a rough sound that might pass for a laugh. “Yeah. Words aren’t coming easy right now.”
The quiet between us hums, full of everything we still haven’t said.
Our wants. Needs. All the messy details.
I lean up, brushing my lips against the corner of her mouth. She turns just enough to meet me, soft and hesitant, and the world narrows to that single, trembling point of contact.
We might not have words, but the undercurrent of emotion vibrates between us.
As chaotic as this situation is, that current is steady, alive, real.
I draw back just enough to see her face, to feel her breath against mine.
“Tell me what’s going on in that head of yours,” I murmur, my thumb tracing the curve of her jaw. “I need to hear you.”
She bites nibbles lip, considering, as I push her hair back behind her ear.
“Safe,” she whispers. “Complete. Like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. Like everything that happened—the kidnapping, the shock, dying—all of it led me here.To you.”
The words hit harder than any sledgehammer because that’s exactly how I feel too.
And it terrifies me.
“Rosalie, baby—” I start, not sure what I’m going to say, needing to say something, anything to capture this moment.
A sharp whistle makes us both jump.
“Hate to interrupt,” Beast’s voice comes from somewhere outside the steamed-up windows, heavy with amusement. “Play time is over. We need you two at a meeting. There’s a situation.”
SIXTEEN
Reality crashes back with the force of a car crash.Shit.
I help Rosalie climb off me, both of us moving to make ourselves presentable. Her face is flushed, her lips swollen from my kisses, her hair a wild mess.
She’s never looked more beautiful. Or more vulnerable.
