Page 139 of Rogue Mission
A couple minutes later we roll up on a scene right out of a Disney Movie.
Most of teams one and two are already there. All the men and their girls. Plus the stable full of horses they came on.
But it’s nature’s display that’s got my mouth dropping open.
How the hell did Justice come up with this?
Carved out of the rainforest is a waterfall.
Mist hangs in the air like a dream. A blue-green pool of water is below. The gurgling sound is perfect enough to be recorded in one of those relaxation soundtracks.
Someone tossed red and pink flowers everywhere.
Lord help all other mortal men.
I whistle, “Justice set the bar high—surprise wedding location in the Costa Rica rainforest, waterfall, horses, and all.”
Rosalie’s squeal is enough to make every man on the team do a quick perimeter check.
Until we all remember, she’s just gotten the surprise of a lifetime. She knew it was THE day, but didn’t know what Justice had cooked up.
“Oh my god! You didthis?” Rosalie shouts.
She slides off her white horse into Justice’s arms, her eyes already bright with tears. “This is incredible!”
The bride goes on and on for a few moments, her words tumbling over themselves.
I’m just close enough to hear Justice’s deep, husky reply. “I wanted it to be perfect for you.”
Damn. Man’s got game.
He deserves this happy ever after too.
The whole team is looking on with a kind of peace in their expressions that comes from seeing one of your own content.
Except Spence. He does not look content. And come to think of it, Liberty is restless too.
“Give me,” Truck says, motioning for the reins of my horse. Like he knows what he’s doing.
I’m the one who grew up on a ranch, but I pass the leather to him just so he’ll be busy and not drilling me for more information I don’t have.
Once the animals are all secured, we gather around, joining the bride and groom. That’s when it gets real.
Damn, that is not indigestion. It’s something swelling below my collarbone.
The man who is performing the ceremony smiles at all of us. “Ladies and gentlemen, we’re gathered here today to share this special moment with two beautiful people.”
I’ve seen a lot of things that could make a man forget how to breathe.
Explosions. Firefights. The look in a dying man’s eyes. But none of it hits like this.
Justice and Rosalie are standing in front of that waterfall—sunlight drifting down like rain, glinting off the diamond on her finger.
It hits hard that he’s a battle-tested SEAL, choking back tears as he reaches for his bride.
Yeah, that’s the kind of thing that breaks through armor you thought was permanent.
I shouldn’t be this wound up. It’s notmywedding.
