“Because there is no us. I’m not going to bother rocking the boat over some guy I’ve slept with a handful of times.” He catches her hand and she looks up at him again. The usual amusement in his eyes has died away. His grip is tight on her wrist. “Don’t try to tell me you’re serious about this, West,” she says in a whisper. “You’ve never even asked me out?”
He drops her arm. “Come on a date with me, Ruby?” He’s smiling again, whatever it was that just passed over his face washed away by the water.
What is real? She can’t tell.
She lowers the bar of soap to the hard planes of his abdomen. “Seriously?”
“Seriously, I wanna take you out.”
More risks. More danger. She couldn’t say no, even if she wanted to.
Her hand slips lower to the dark hair at his groin and his cock stiffens under her gaze.
Taking the soap from her hand, he replaces it in the dish, then presses her flat against the tiles, hooking one of her legs around his waist. He leans in and sucks on her neck. She knocks her head back against the hard tiles, water running into her eyes.
“I’m about to go on tour.” Could this work? Could thisactuallywork between them? Or is this part of the game?
“One date, Omega. Give me one date to show you just how serious I am.” He bites her lightly on the throat and pushes his way inside her, rotating his hips until she’s moaning. “One date.”
“One date,” she repeats, and then he fucks her hard.
Chapter 13
He peers at his watch. He’s late. Hopefully they’re all having too much fun to notice. Balancing the parcel in his arms, he strolls up the path and pushes open the front door.
He can hear voices and music from the kitchen and the shrieks of excited kids in the backyard.
Squaring his shoulders, ready for the barrage, he ducks inside the kitchen. Three of his sisters are perched on stools, around the kitchen island munching potato chips. Glancing out into the yard, he spies his other sister attempting to arrange kids in a circle, his nephew swinging around her ankles, her husband trying to coax one kid out from under a table.
“Looks like Darlia and Karl could do with some help.”
His sisters turn his way at the sound of his voice, and he adds the gift to a pile on the kitchen table.
“Nope! We told her to hire an entertainer and she was adamant she wanted to do the party herself,” says Arla, his other older sister. She reaches up and twists her hair into an elastic band. “You’re late.”
“Yep,” he says, walking over to the fridge and helping himself to a beer.
“Lola was watching out the window for you.”
“Don’t give me that bullshit. Your daughter can’t sit still for more than two minutes,” he says with a grin.
“Well, she was looking out for you for two minutes.”
He walks back to the island and kisses each sister on the cheek.
“So where you been?” says Martha, his youngest sister — the only one like him who has no partner and no kids.
“Around.”
She eyes him. “You haven’t answered any of my calls.”
“And I dropped by your place yesterday and the day before and you weren’t in,” Kaz, his other younger sister adds.
“I’m hardly ever home.”
“You’re being all coy.” Arla stands on the rung of her stool and sniffs his collar.
“Is it a girl?” Kaz asks.
