“She won’t mind?”
“Nope.”
She combs her fingers through his hair as he continues to nuzzle at her neck. “And are you sure the clothes are your sister’s and not some other girlfriend’s?” Her grip in his hair tightens. That spark of jealousy again. He likes it.
“About your heat — do you want to have it here? Or at your place?”
“My nest is at my place but …” Her scent shifts. He looks up.
“What?”
“Are you serious?”
People seem to ask him that question a lot. He swallows his irritation. “About what?”
“Being with me for my heat.”
Issheserious? He’s dreamed of nothing else since he first laid eyes on her and realised she was an Omega. He’s been waiting nearly a fucking year for her to invite him to join her. “I’m very serious.”
“It’s risky.”
He chuckles. “And here I was thinking that’s what you liked.”
“Maybe I do.” She captures his bottom lip between her teeth and tugs at it. “It’s three, four days. You sure you can spare that?”
Why does she keep asking him? She really believes he’d turn down the opportunity of rutting her through a heat. Fuck his schedule! Fuck the risks! Fuck everything else!!
“It’s not going to be a problem,” he says.
“Okay then,” she says. “I’ll let you know when it’s starting.”
He nods, and buries his face back in her neck so she can’t see his insanely wide grin. His stomach spins with excitement and his cock starts stirring in his pants. He tugs her even closer, thinking he’d like to fuck her now, out here in the sunlight, but her phone beeps on the table and she pulls away to look at it.
A frown forms on her face as she reads the message.
“What’s wrong? Is it your band?” They didn’t see them last night, did they?
“My mom. Seems she didn’t like the dress as much as you did.”
“I doubt you wore it for her.”
“She says it looked slutty.”
“It didn’t. You looked beautiful.” But the compliment doesn’t make her smile.
Chapter 10
Music plays from somewhere inside the house as Ruby pushes open the front door.
“Hello?” she calls, “Is anybody there?”
“Hi Ruby. It’s me, Tanya. I’m in the kitchen.”
She drops her purse by the door, and strolls through, glancing at her reflection as she passes the mirror. Thank goodness she took a shower before leaving West’s otherwise it would be obvious she’d only just returned home.
Tanya sits on the couch with her legs curled underneath her, a cup of coffee in one hand and a paper spread across her lap.
“I thought you’d be in bed with a migraine. I brought you painkillers and everything.” She points to a paper bag resting on the kitchen island.
