Malin
One hundred percenttruth is what I tell her. I don't leave out anything about who I am or what I need to do. And I don't omit anything about why we needed to split away from the others or the danger she is in.
There is only one problem. I tell her in French. As much as I want her to know everything, I can't subject her to it.
Emilia wears her heart on her sleeve. She's angry. But her demanding attitude catches me off guard.
And it only makes my blood buzz more.
I don't know what it is about her. I've had plenty of women over the years, from all over the world. But ma belle is testing every bit of discipline I have.
I have to kiss her. I can't go another second without tasting her plump lips. I already know what her ass feels like, but I need my hand on that, too.
"Please," she whispers, and a longing I've never felt grips my core.
Her kisses are slow then greedy. Her tongue is fire and sin. When I pull away, my need is anything but quenched. It's only left me in a pit of torment, desperate to show her every way I can break her and put her back together again, all in the same night.
She wants answers. I'm going to have to take her questions one at a time. I want to keep her innocent. But the need she has not to be left in the dark—for the world to see her for the woman she is—claws at my heart.
Ma belle is smart. She's stronger than what she or her sister thinks. It still doesn't make me want to bring any evil into her world. I want her to stay in that bubble she despises.
If I keep her in it, she'll end up hating me.
We gather kindling to start a fire. I hand her my night vision goggles. "Put these on and see if there's any fruit in the trees."
She obeys, and I focus on the fire. When it's lit, I look up, and I can barely see her.
"Don't go too far, ma belle."
"Cashew fruit?" she says and jumps up, reaching for something.
I rise and move toward her.
She jumps a few more times, and something moves above our heads in the trees.
"Want me to try?"
"I almost have it." She jumps again and grabs a branch. Three pieces of fruit are on it. I slice them off with my knife. "Nice job," I praise her.
She beams.
How does she pull off sexy in night vision goggles?
I remove them from her and cup her chin. "I like it when you smile, ma belle."
Her eyes shine in the darkness. She quietly says, "It feels good."
"To smile?"
She hesitates then nods.
Why aren't you smiling a lot, ma belle?
Something moves in the trees above us, and she jumps into my chest.
I chuckle and kiss her head. Her coconut and peach scent swirls in my veins. I mumble, "You're killing me, ma belle."
