“But don’t you find it ironic that they can accept everything except hybrids and a woman with a Hunter bloodline?” I asked.
“Just as in the human world, people have their quirks.” Imani shrugged. “But I don’t care what they think about me. I let that shit go when I mated Quinn.” She eyed me. “And if you decide to stay and mate Rhett, you should do the same.”
Her words were food for thought.
The server brought us more rounds, and I face-planted on the table from too much Brew.
“Who’s ready for more bull riding?” they both chirped.
Buzzed from Brew and feeling like one giant vibrating being, I said, “Not me.”
“Come on,” they whined playfully, trying to yank me off my chair, but I refused to budge.
“Go away,” I grumbled. “My head’s spinning. Just leave me here to die.”
“Nope,” Nyx said. “We would never leave a drunk sister behind.”
“Go. I’ll watch her,” Rhett volunteered.
I jerked upright, nearly toppling off my chair.
Rhett gently caught me, settling me back onto my seat.
“What are you doing here?” My heart thumped hard in my chest. “Wait.” My eyes narrowed. “Are you stalking me?” I stared at him with my lips pursed.
“I’m just doing my job by making sure you’re not getting yourself in trouble.” He scowled. “Again.”
“Oh, shut up, Sheriff Stick-Up-Your-Ass!” I bellowed.
“You’re right, Imani,” Nyx broke in loudly. “They are like a bottle of ‘hot, angry, sweaty sex waiting to happen’ wine.”
“Yep,” Imani boasted, then pointed to us. “Come on, you two. Just make out already.”
Rhett frowned at them. “You two are drunk.”
Imani wobbled on her feet. “No, we’re not.”
When Quinn appeared at the table, he said, “Yes, you are, baby.”
Imani wrapped her arms around his neck. “Yay! You’re here.”
“Hi, Nyx. Hi, Nova,” Quinn said.
I saluted. Nyx waved.
“What about me?” Imani asked, batting her eyelashes almost comically. “You didn’t greet me properly.”
“Apologies, mate.” He leaned down, kissing Imani in a slow, tender, but smoking-hot manner that showed me how much he loved her.
When he pulled back, Imani said, “Love you, mate.”
“Love you too, mate,” Quinn said. He rubbed her back in slow circles. “Time to go home.”
Imani released her grip on him and nearly stumbled, but he wrapped an arm around her waist.
“One more bull ride,” she urged.
“Nope. First, I’m driving Nyx home, and then we’re heading home.”
