“Huh?” I asked.
“Sheriff Stick-Up-His-Ass?”
How in the hell did he hear my nickname for him?
He arched a brow.
I slammed the door, scooting across the seat.
A few minutes later, Sheriff Ward took off his hat before sliding behind the wheel. Pulling out his cell, he tapped out a text before taking off.
“I assume your alien kind has superhearing,” I said.
“Alien kind?”
“Yes. Alien. Like Henry.”
“He’s not an alien, and neither am I.”
“I call bullshit on what you just said. Henry transformed from a horse to a man. And the cruiser’s door was closed, so the only way you could have heard what I was whispering about you is with superhearing.”
He snorted. “I think you’ve been watching way too many science fiction television shows.”
“Whatever,” I said, refusing to acknowledge that I was a science fiction movie geek.
“Can we start over?” he asked. “What’s your name?”
“Nova King.”
“King?” He eyed me in the mirror. “And who are you here to visit?”
“Why?”
“Because I’m the law, and you’re here in my town.”
“I’d rather not say,” I quipped, staring out the window at the weird but beautiful scenery. “It’s personal.”
“Did you just say that it’s personal?”
“Yes, I did.” I pursed my lips.
“How about a night in jail? Will that loosen your tongue?”
“Nope.”
“Let me get this straight. You believe you’re in a town with aliens, and you’re not afraid to spend the night in our jail? Aren’t you afraid of being probed?”
“No. If you all were going to probe me, you would have done it by now.”
“How do you know I’m not taking you to get probed right now?”
My lips curled up into a smile. “Is that what you’d like to do? Probe me in private, Sheriff?” I wasn’t normally flirtatious, but something about Sheriff Ward revved up my flirt-o-meter.
He chuckled. A sound that made my toes curl with pleasure. “I don’t do probing while on duty.”
“So you say, Sheriff.” My pussy pulsed, just imagining all the freaky, sensual ways he could probe me with his cock and tongue.
Nova. Take your mind off sex.
