Our baby is twenty something years in the making and I am so fucking grateful you chose me to do this with. Don’t work too hard and I’ll see you soon.
Love,
Trick
PS. Save one of those cookies for me.
I tuck the note in my bag, take a picture of the arrangement before shifting the flowers to one side of my large desk. When I open the box of cookies, the baby makes their appreciation known. I bite into a dark chocolate cookie as my phone pings.
Vera
Oh my god, did you get dicked down? Those are ‘dicked you down good’ flowers.
Was it good? As good as the first time?
Need to send Elias some flowers so he remembers to send me some too
There was no dicking involved, but definitely lots of talking and putting our feelings out there and working through our issues.
Vera
Gross, that sounds less fun.
It was excruciating, but also weirdly comforting and therapeutic.
Vera
You doing okay?
I sigh and take another bite of the cookie, moaning as the chocolate melts on my tongue. The baby dances, because of course my child would get excited about chocolate.
I am. Slowly and steadily, getting my act together and all that.
We finally talked about why I was so angry with him and he told me why he never came back and there were tears. A LOT OF TEARS.
Maybe even some snot. And he still wants me.
GAH.
Vera
Aww, Tam. Of course he wants you. He sees what we all see: a badass beautiful woman who is living her best life.
I’m a hot mess, but I thank you for your kind words.
Vera
You’re a GORGEOUS hot mess.
I’m glad you two talked it out. Are you relieved to get it all out there?
To an extent, yeah. There’s so much he doesn’t know about Kabir. But we’ll get there.
Vera
Good. I’m proud of you. And really fucking happy for you.
Thanks, Vee.
