Isa joined us just as I flipped the last pancake, coming up behind me and wrapping her arms around my waist. I turned and looked down at her face, wondering how it was possible for me to love her more with each day that passed.

She tightened her arms around me a fraction.

I leaned down and kissed her. She kissed me back as our girls ignored us. Daddy kissing Mommy was nothing new.

They were used to it by now.

I pulled away when I smelled something burning and quickly turned around to take the pancake out.

She looked at it and grinned mischievously at me.

It was a perfect morning, and I couldn’t ask for more.

We quickly prepared the girls’ plates, then our own, and carried them over to the table. They clapped when we placed them down in front of them, while Isa and I each took a seat between them. I looked down at my plate, the burnt pancake sitting on top, before smothering it with syrup.

And we enjoyed our own little happily ever after.

And that was all.
