I AM OFFICIALLY JEALOUS

IMOGEN

On Monday morning, I’m once again sitting in my office with Annika on the couch, talking about Cam. Only this time, instead of begging me for details about his cock, she's raving about it.

"Seriously, Im... You were going to gatekeep that?" She gives me a dirty look, and I shake my head.

"I wasn't gatekeeping it. I just didn't think you'd ever be in a position to see it... Let alone fuck it."

She grins. "Well, I have. And I am officially jealous. I need to get me a well-hung boyfriend who's okay with me fucking for a living. Where does one find one of those?"

I turn to my computer with a smirk. "Apparently, you need a client to have a heart attack and then the paramedic turns out to be the man of your dreams."

She lets out a dramatic sigh and flops back against the back of the couch. "Well damn, guess I better work on getting one of the old fuckers to have a coronary. "

Catching the look on Sebastian's face as he walks in causes me to choke on a laugh.

He turns to give her a stern look as he sits down behind his desk. "I'd prefer not to have any more medical incidents here, thank you. So try not to ride the old men too hard, please."

"You're no fun," Annika replies with a pout.

"Besides, what about poor Connell? I don't think he'd be able to handle it if you found a well-hung boyfriend who's okay with you fucking others for a living," I say with a sly smile.

She narrows her eyes as she looks at me. "Until that man gets over whatever his weird hang up is, I don't think I'll be making relationship decisions based on what he wants."

"Have you actually tried talking to him about this?" I ask, glad that the focus has shifted off my own relationship for the time being.

She throws her hands up in the air. "How exactly am I meant to do that when every time I’m alone with him, he bolts in the other direction?"

"Perhaps you could try romancing the man instead of scaring him?" Sebastian pipes up, earning him a death glare. He just raises an eyebrow at her, completely unaffected by the daggers she's trying to shoot from her eyes. "You know I'm right."

"He's the head of fucking security, why on earth would he be scared of me?"

I shrug. "Maybe he's not scared of you. You said it was one of the wildest nights you've experienced, right?"

She sighs, nodding. "Yeah. It was amazing."

I smile gently. "So maybe, given that he doesn't fuck people for a living, he's scared of whatever feelings were stirred up after that night?"

She taps her lip with her pointer finger, her expression thoughtful. "Yeah... maybe..."

"What actually happened that night?" I ask, not for the first time .

She gives me a small smile and shakes her head. "That is between me, Connell, and Dante."

My eyes widen. "Wait, this is the first time you mentioned Dante was there!"

Her grin turns wicked. "Whoops."

I gape at her. "Now you have to tell me!"

She winks and rises to her feet. "Maybe... one day..." She blows me a kiss and walks out of the office.

I turn to look at Sebastian. "Do you know what happened that night?"

He raises an eyebrow. "Are you asking me to gossip, Imogen?"

"Yes."

He shakes his head with a chuckle. "I've not been given the details, only that whatever happened that night did, as Annika would say, rock Connell's world.

Perhaps one day he'll be able to reconcile that with the feelings he seems to have for Annika, but it needs to be on his terms." Then he rolls his eyes.

"Wait, why are we even discussing this?"

I smile, batting my eyelashes. "Because you're one of the girls now." He gives me a disgusted look that makes me laugh. "It's okay, Sebastian. You can admit you're just as invested in the drama around this place as the rest of us are."

He glowers at me. "I'd prefer if there was less drama, thank you very much."

I open my mouth to respond when his phone rings, and a relieved expression crosses his face as he reaches to pick it up.

Saved by the bell.

"Hello Daniel," Sebastian says, bringing his phone to his ear.

I turn back to my computer as he listens to whatever his brother has to say. The spreadsheet I've been trying to work on for the past hour is still open and untouched. I guess Annika really distracted me.

"What?!" Sebastian shoots to his feet, and I look up, alarmed.

He begins pacing, his expression dark. In the two years I've known him, I've never seen him show this level of emotion about anything, and it's freaking me out a little. Whatever Daniel is telling him must be drastic to elicit this kind of response.

"Where is she now?"

Ok, so it's about a woman. Did something happen to one of the sex workers in Sydney?

He stops pacing, glaring out the window while Daniel replies. His expression morphs into something dangerous, and my heart leaps into my throat. God, what the fuck has happened?

"I'm getting on the next plane." He hangs up, spinning around to storm out of the room.

I jump up to follow him. "What's going on?"

He stops short, like he's surprised that I'm even there. Whatever his brother had to say has rattled him so badly that he's clearly not thinking straight.

"There is a situation in Sydney that I need to take care of," he replies.

"Did something happen to one of the employees?" I ask, following him as he heads for the stairs.

"No... It's a... family thing."

I pause. "But... you don't have family other than Daniel?"

He whips around to look at me, his eyes blazing. "There are many things about my history that you know nothing about, Imogen."

Well, fuck.

"Uh, okay. Sorry, I didn't mean to overstep."

He seems to realise that he'd just snapped at me, as his expression softens a little.

"Daniel has just asked for my help with a woman that we grew up with.

That's all." Images of the timid blonde woman staying in the Sydney location flit through my mind.

Something must show on my face, as his eyes narrow. "What's that look for?"

"Uh... It's nothing... I'm sure." He continues to stare at me, silently demanding I tell him. "It's just... the last two times I was in Sydney, Daniel had a guest. He asked me not to say anything though."

His jaw clenches. "Daniel asked you to keep something from me?" His tone is low. Dangerous.

I swallow. "Um... yes?"

The man standing in front of me right now is nothing like the cool, calm and in control version of Sebastian that I know so well.

This man looks like he could actually kill someone.

"And who was this guest?"

A little scared, I shake my head. "He never told me her name."

"Did you see her? Speak to her?" he demands, stalking back towards me. I take a step back, involuntarily, and he halts, finally seeming to realise that he's morphed into someone else right now. "Sorry," he says, some of the venom disappearing from his voice.

I take a breath, relieved that he seems to be calming down a little. "I only saw her briefly. She seemed scared, though. Like she didn't want anyone knowing she was there."

He nods, his eyes still holding some of that fire. "What did she look like?"

I try to remember the details of the woman who had appeared for a few seconds last week. "She was about my height. With long, wavy blonde hair. Kind of sweet looking. Maybe her late twenties at most?" He seems to have stopped breathing, and he's starting to worry me. "Sebastian... who is she?"

He takes a breath finally, his face pale. "Someone who shouldn't be around us. Ever."

With that, he spins around and races down the hall, leaving me standing there, staring after him

What the fuck does that mean?
