“What about a selfie with us?” I ask her.

She nods vigorously. Mac and I stand together, making sure the girl can be seen in the background. She’s grinning from ear to ear. It’s the best thing I’ve done all day.

After all the autographs are signed and the pictures are taken, I’m standing on the sideline with my found family. Amelia, Mac, Hendrix, and I are reflecting on our game.

“It shouldn’t have been that close,” Mac says with a shake of her head.

“No, you’re right. It shouldn’t have been. But your goal was awesome,” Hendrix tells her. “Yours too.” She points at me.

“I thought Jase was going to storm the field when you came out of goal,” I say with a laugh.

“Donotdo that to me again,” Jase says, joining us. “You were wonderful out there tonight,” he says, turning to me.

I lean into him and smile. “Thank you.”

“Is that PDA allowed?” Hendrix teases.

He just shrugs and holds me to him. “I think we’ll be okay.”

I can’t contain my smile or the heat that races through my body at his touch. Standing here with these friends and this Englishman is all I’ve ever wanted.
