Chapter 6

Prowl

She was an angel.

It was the only explanation.

Despite what she said, I was a monster.

A merging of species which shouldn’t exist, tested and tortured to the brink of my sanity, with enough skill and power to drain life with one hand.

And yet she’d touched me.

She’d crawled across the room and slept beside me.

She’d given me more hope and peace than I could ever have imagined.

I knew the moment I touched her she was mine, my lips on her skin, sealing my fate to hers.

When she left at the end of her contract, she’d take my heart and soul with her.

And my will to live.

Until then, I’d treasure every second I had with her.
