Being - Any individual in Terrha, such as a human, a panom, a courtrade, or other.

Black Lawful Stab – A legendary blade made of black crystal, with lethal powers to kill irreversibly. The Black Lawful Stab only obeys the Organ Mandor of Thyria. Blood of the Cardinal Queen was used to create it.

Borealia – Capital of the North Petal in the North of Thyria.

Cardinal Houses – A term to refer to the North House, South House, East House and West House of Thyria.

Cardinal Queen – Queen of Cardinals.

Cardinals – Five goddesses of panom magic, creators of the Petals and builders of Thyria. The North Cardinal, East Cardinal, South Cardinal, West Cardinal and Core Cardinal are sisters.

Cardinals’ Temple – Sacred temple in the Organ House in the very center of Thyria, where Fifth Ceremonies take place.

Compassom – A rare device that allows invisible panom marks to be seen on the skin of a panom-to-be or potential panom.

Core Cardinal – Goddess of the Organ Core, inner circle of the panom mark, and the Organ House, responsible for keeping harmony between the opposite magics so the land doesn’t collapse.

CoreCode – A game played with dies and cards.

Corentre – Capital of Thyria, in the Organ Core, home to the Organ House.

Corolla - Petal-shaped snack, sold in the cities of Thyria.

Courtrade – Being blessed by Llunal and gifted with the god’s powers: shadow-wielding and whispers of night.

Crois – A courtrade metallic weapon with the shape of a semicircle.

Crystal Clear Safehouse - Safehouse in Corentre owned by Ciaran Castel, protected from unwanted visitors, invisible to the eye of any being he hasn’t allowed access.

Deliseen – An interactive panel found in exclusive Elite manors and some Houses.

Discarded being – An individual exiled to the cruel island of Verdania, usually as punishment. Discarding is a responsibility of the panoms belonging to the Organ House.

Dual-powered - Being who is both a panom and a courtrade.

East Cardinal – Goddess of the East Petal and the East House, creator of the Harming power.

East House – One of the five political houses of Thyria, in the East Petal and governed by the East House Ruler.

East Petal – Physical location on the East of Thyria, home to the East House. The East Petal of the panom mark is the one responsible for the Harming power, and must be balanced with its opposite power on the West Petal, responsible for Healing.

Elite – A selected group of humans who hold a significant amount of power, wealth, or influence. Humans can gain entry to the Elite by donating generous amounts to the five Houses of Thyria, or by earning their value because of unique abilities, knowledge or skills.

Epitellia – Invisible barriers that protect a place and restrict the entrance from unwanted beings.

Fifth Ceremony – A sacred ceremony that allows a panom access to their unleashed magical powers and gets the four-petal mark magically inked on their skin.

Fifth Crusade - A five-trial journey to prove to the five Cardinals the worth of five panoms who aim to earn the Fifth Power. The Fifth crusade consists of five ordeals, undertaken by five strivers. Each ordeal belongs to a Cardinal, and requires dominance of their pertinent power in order to succeed. The North Cardinal’s ordeal needs a striver who has full control of the Giving power. The South Cardinal’s ordeal demands the striver masters Taking. The striver for the West Cardinal’s ordeal has to dominate Healing, and the one for the East Cardinal’s ordeal must be an adept at Harming.

Fifth Power – An ancient power which is extremely dangerous and difficult to get.

Giving – One of the four panom powers, originally from the North Cardinal, which requires the panom to use the North Petal of their panom mark. Its opposite power is Taking.

Groll – The lowest-value coin in Thyria. There are twenty-five grolls in one valer.

Harming – One of the four panom powers, originally from the East Cardinal, which requires the panom to use the East Petal of their panom mark. Its opposite power is Healing. This power is more complex to dominate than Giving and Taking.

Healing – One of the four panom powers, originally from the West Cardinal, which requires the panom to use the West Petal of their panom mark. Its opposite power is Harming. This power is more complex to dominate than Giving and Taking.

Ink – A message sent from a panom to another being, which appears on the skin of the recipient with the color of the sender’s magic and with the sender’s handwriting. The message disappears once the recipient has read it.

Inner balance / Inner harmony / Inner scale – Essential scale individual to each panom that must be balanced when using opposite magics (Giving and Taking are opposite magics, and Healing and Harming as well). When the inner harmony is uneven because one power has been used more than its opposite, the panom suffers certain signs and symptoms that can incapacitate and be fatal.

Interpetal Bullef – Communication center that ensures respectful harmony between the Houses and its Rulers.

Invisible Grand – The most secretive organization of Thyria.

Jofryo River – River that surrounds the inner circle of Thyria.

Llunal – God of shadows and darkness.

Mouring – The ability to transport from one place to another using panom magic. A panom can moure independently or moure two other beings at the same time by touching the back of their necks.

Myster – A drink with alcoholic properties.

Navia - Crescent-moon shaped vehicle that stays afloat in the seas, owned by courtrades, fueled by the power and magic of Llunal.

Necroseer - Being who can see, listen and speak with the dead.

Ordeal - A challenge or trial where a panom proves their worth to one of the Cardinal goddesses, in order to obtain a red-crystal feather required to earn the Fifth Power. Also see: Fifth crusade.

Organ Core – Circular shape in the middle of the four petals of Thyria and the panom mark.

Organ Mandor – True Ruler of Thyria and Ruler of the Organ House. Every human and panom being must answer to the Organ Mandor, including the four Rulers of the Cardinal Houses.

Orster – Scientific center of research and investigation with the laboratories better guarded by the Organ House.

Panom – Being with magical abilities, blessed by the Cardinals and gifted with their magic. A panom gets access to their powers after the Fifth Ceremony.

Acquired panom / Converted panom – Being who gets their panom mark by marriage.

Blood panom – Being who gets their panom mark at birth.

Potential panom / Panom-to-be – Being with an invisible panom mark on their skin who will only become panom after a Fifth Ceremony takes place.

Recipient panom – Being who gets their panom mark by donation.

Panom Guidor – Experienced panom assigned to guide and teach a new panom how to control the four powers after their Fifth Ceremony.

Panom mark – Four-petal-shaped mark with a circular inner part, with the same shape as Thyria. This mark is permanently inked on the skin of panom beings and allows them to perform magic. Before the Fifth Ceremony, this mark can only be seen on a panom-to-be by using a compassom. The panom mark of each panom has a unique color, the same color as their ink and sparks.

Panomquake – A sudden violent shaking of the ground, typically causing great destruction, because of instability amongst the balance between the five Houses of Thyria.

Roix – An organized military organization equipped for fighting and establishing order.

Roix Reigner – Highest authority in the Roix, to whom all roixers must obey.

Roixer – A military member of the Roix armed and trained to fight, who obeys orders from the Roix Reigner and the Organ Mandor.

South Cardinal – Goddess of the South Petal and the South House, creator of the Taking power.

South House – One of the five political houses of Thyria, in the South Petal and governed by the South House Ruler.

South Petal – Physical location on the South of Thyria, home to the South House. The South Petal of the panom mark is the one responsible for the Taking power, and must be balanced with its opposite power on the North Petal, responsible for Giving.

Striver - An aspirant taking part in the Fifth crusade. Also see: Fifth crusade.

Sweetgum Beech – The biggest square of Corentre.

Taking – One of the four panom powers, originally from the South Cardinal, which requires the panom to use the South Petal of their panom mark. Its opposite power is Giving.

Terrha – World inhabited by beings.

Thyria – A four-petal-shaped island in the middle of the Radel Sea, with five political Houses.

Trading Day – A day every week when the Rulers provide supplies and resources on the Trading Table for the discarded beings living in Verdania. The inhabitants of Verdania can suit themselves to the whatever the Trading Table provides.

Valer – The highest-value coin. One valer is worth twenty-five grolls.

Verdania – An island in the Radel Sea where discarded beings are sent to.

Vessels – Underwater net of tunnels connecting different islands in the Radel Sea. Vessels are circular-shaped empty tunnels, with blue-tinged membranes separating them from the water of the Radel Sea. A vessel always connects to another vessel, creating a net to ensure the flow of the magic above them.

Vitam tradere – A blood bound effort between two beings to start killing to keep living.

West Cardinal – Goddess of the West Petal and the West House, creator of the Healing power.

West House – One of the five political houses of Thyria, in the West Petal and governed by the West House Ruler.

West Petal – Physical location on the West of Thyria, home to the West House. The West Petal of the panom mark is the one responsible for the Healing power, and must be balanced with its opposite power on the East Petal, responsible for Harming.
