Page 107 of Obsessing Over His Favorite
Emily sat motionless in the front row, arms folded tightly over her chest. Her face was blank, but her eyes—her eyes were glued to the stage.
Not a single muscle moved. Not even a blink.
The chaos around her didn’t matter. The reporters shouting questions. The lights flashing. The murmurs growing louder with every second.
All she could see was Lucas standing next to Amelia.
She didn’t say a word. She just waited for his answer.
She had broken up with Lucas. She had told herself she was done. But five years of loving someone didn’t just disappear themoment you walked away. That kind of love left scars. And now, sitting there, hearing reporters ask if Lucas and Amelia were a couple, her chest tightened in humiliation.
Beside Lucas, Amelia leaned in with a polite smile that didn’t reach her eyes. Her voice was hushed but urgent.
“Lucas,” her voice was hushed, “you can’t deny our relationship right now. Everything’s being broadcasted. If anything goes wrong, if Mr. Sanchez refuses to sign this deal because we embarrassed him on live TV…” She let the words hang in the air.
Her voice dropped, low and urgent. “You need to say yes. For the company’s reputation. For your deal. It seems he only agreed to this deal because he thinks we’re together. For the company’s reputation, just say yes. Accept me publicly. We have no choice.”
Lucas stayed silent.
Emily watched every second of it. Her nails dug into her arms, but she didn’t move.
Amelia’s voice turned colder as she pressed closer. “Just tell the media we’re dating. That’s all. Say it once, and it’s over. It’s not a lie if it protects everything you've worked for.”
Lucas stood on the stage, chaos erupting around him as the media closed in, flashes going off in every direction.
His eyes scanned the crowd until they landed on Emily.
She was sitting there.
Still.
Silent.
Watching him.
Her face was blank. No anger, no pain. Just a terrifying calm.
‘She’ll understand,’ he told himself, eyes locked with Emily’s. ‘Emily’s been with me for five years. She knows how these things work. It’s just business.’ He thought, clinging to Emily’s calmness. ‘I’ll explain everything to her later. I live with her. I’m her boyfriend. She knows she’s mine. Nothing’s going to change.’
His jaw tightened as he glanced sideways at Amelia—poised, composed, and watching him closely.
‘I can’t embarrass Amelia either. She’s part of this deal. If I say the wrong thing now… she could be humiliated.’
He turned slightly toward Amelia, then back to the media, and with a stiff smile, he stepped forward.
“Yes,” he said clearly into the mic. “Amelia is my girlfriend.”
Gasps rippled through the crowd. The press surged forward. Reporters shouted over each other, cameras exploded with light.
For the first time since Lucas entered the business world, he had publicly confirmed a relationship. It was headline gold.
The media didn’t waste a second.
