“You’re being very soppy.”
“We’re on our honeymoon. I’mallowedto be soppy.”
“True.” I lean down and kiss his forehead. “Well, if we’re being soppy…thank you for being my blossom.”
Fitz’s face goes red.
“And my own personal baker.”
Fitz gasps.
“And the most amazing man, who I love with all my heart.”
“You just about saved yourself there,” he mutters. “It’s a good thing I love you and all your silliness.”
“You’rethe silly one.”
“Not anymore. You’ve officially overtaken me when it comes to silliness. I’m going to get you a medal to prove it.”
“An edible medal?”
“Do you ever think of anything other than food?”
I smile and stroke his cheek. “Yes. I think about you.” I take his hand, and we start to stroll down the path. “You could make the medal out of shortcake.”
He laughs and knocks his shoulder into my arm. “Or chocolate chip cookie.”
“Yum.”
“Oh! I could get some wasabi while we’re here and make wasabi cookies.”
“I’m not sure I like the sound of that.”
“You won’t know unless you try.”
I squeeze his hand and smile down at him. “As long as you’re beside me, I’m willing to try just about anything.”
“Even wasabi cookies?”
“Anything.” I stroke his cheek. “Isn’t that how we got here in the first place?”
“Japan?”
I chuckle. “No, together.”
“We didn’t end up together by trying crazy flavours of cookies,” Fitz says, making me laugh.
“Now who’s being silly?”
He points at himself and grins. “Me.”
“What I meant was we got here by taking a leap of faith together.”
“Was it a leap of faith? Or did Vanessa shove us off a cliff together?”
I brush my lips over his. “She did. All right, scrap that. Let’s just forget Vanessa and agree that the rest of our lives started with a kiss.”
“That sounds like the beginning of a wonderful story.” He wraps my arms around my neck, and I lift him.
