Page 62 of Nico
A liar.
Loud sounds, yelling, interrupted the moment and my step faltered. I was halfway down the aisle.
“Bianca,” a familiar voice called out through the yard. I turned my head in the direction of the loud voices and saw John struggling against Bear.
Before I realized, I pulled my arm out of Cassio’s arm, lifted my long dress and ran towards him.
“Hey,” I yelled. “Bear, let him go.”
Commotion broke out all around me, but all my focus was on John and ensuring Bear didn’t hurt him.
“Bianca, slow down,” Grace called out behind me. “I’m trying to save your wedding dress and this long-ass train.”
“Just leave it,” I told her and in another few steps came to a stop, in front of Nico's men. All of them surrounded John like he was a criminal, yet criminals were all over my lawn. Bear had him lifted up into the air by his Polo shirt. Tugging on Bear’s arm, I hissed at him. “He's a friend. Get your hands off of him.”
Bear looked to someone over my head, and I followed his gaze. Nico was behind me, his stormy gray eyes clearly showing he was furious. I didn’t give a shit. He couldn’t manhandle my friends like that.
“Nico, tell Bear to let him go,” I demanded. He didn’t move or say anything. “Nico!” I screeched. “Tell him to let John go.”
“Bianca, what is going on?” John squealed, struggling to speak. “Why are you marrying him?”
Nico took over from Bear and punched John right into his face.
“Nico!” I screamed. “What the fuck?”
My eyes darted around frantically, seeking help. Nobody even moved, the expressions on their faces bored, like this was an everyday occurrence. What was wrong with these people?
John wasn’t a small guy, years of playing football made him strong enough to hold his own. Well, not against Nico Morrelli apparently. Because Nico was using him as a damn punching bag. John tried his best but hadn’t landed a hit yet.
Since nobody bothered to stop the two idiots, I jumped on Nico’s back, wrapping my arms around him.
“Stop it right now,” I yelled at him. This wedding turned into a damn circus show. “Now, Nico! I mean it or I’ll-” what will I do? What could I threaten him with? “Or you can kiss this wedding goodbye!” I shouted, before I could hold the words back.
He immediately straightened, giving a silent nod to Bear to restrain John.
I pointed my finger at Bear. “Don’t you touch him or hit him. Understood?” Bear raised his eyebrow, one side of his lip tilting to the side. Whether it was in displeasure or a smile, I’d never know.
“Bianca, why are you-” John started but I immediately cut him off.
“Stop it,” I hissed, his eyes darting between Nico and I, then shifting to the rest of the crowd. It didn’t take a genius to see that my yard was full of dangerous men.
I turned my back to John and glared at Nico. “Are you mental?”
“Tell me you didn’t fucking invite him to our wedding,” he replied, his voice ice cold.
“Are you for fucking real?” I asked him. “When do you think I could have sent the invite? While I was in the shower this morning and you kept guard?”
Grace’s husband snickered in the background and suddenly both Nico and I glared at him.
“I didn’t say anything,” he quickly defended himself with a big smile on his face. Nice to see someone found this amusing.
I looked out and saw that Ella had ushered Matteo and the girls back into the house.
“Don’t worry,” Grace said, seeing me looking at the children. “They didn’t see anything. Ella distracted them with candy.”
“I guess that’s good,” I muttered. “They can be jacked up all day on sugar.”
Grace shrugged her one shoulder, unconcerned. If I had to pick between sugar or fight, I’d pick sugar too.
