Page 51 of My Scarred Laird
Everyone stopped what they were doing as Egan and Callum stood facing one another, the blades winking in the sun and Callum raised one eyebrow, “Should we show them how it’s done?”
Egan grinned and nodded, and then they were fighting, showing off their prowess with their swords.
Islay sat with her hand over her mouth, her heart in her throat as Callum came within inches of being hit by Egan’s sword.
Over and over, they fought, until Egan tripped, and Callum held his sword at Egan’s throat, making him yield.
Egan grinned at Callum as he held his hand out and then Callum looked over at her as he winked.
She sucked in a breath, and her pussy flooded with moisture.
She felt her nipples harden and when Callum shook hands with a few of the boys, he turned to her and walked over to where she was sitting.
Sweat was dripping down his face, rolling down the planes of his hard chest and Islay swallowed as she watched the droplets slide down his skin.
She looked up and he quirked one side of his lip, “Is everythin’ all right lass?”
She nodded, “Aye.”
Egan walked over, a little out of breath while Callum was barely breathing hard.
“Good fight my laird.”
Callum nodded, “Aye. It was. I think it showed the newcomers what we do.”
Egan grinned and Islay shivered a little in the chill.
Callum saw it, then said, “I’m taking the lady ta the keep.”
Egan nodded, “I will handle the next round of training.”
Callum nodded, “I ken ye will.”
One of the men ran the tunic Callum had been wearing to him and he held it in his hand while he sheathed his sword.
“Thank ye, Rory.”
The man nodded and ran back to where he stood in the line of men and Callum helped Islay to stand and led her away from the field with a firm hand on the small of her back.
Just the press of his hand on her back made her bite back a moan and as they were walking past the stables, she saw it was empty of men.
She pretended to roll her ankle and leaned against the wall, “Oh. I think I hurt my leg.”
Callum dropped to his knee in front of her, lifting her foot gently and placing it in his lap, “Aye? Ye hurt it?”
She nodded, “Let me just rest in here for now.”
He looked up at her, then nodded. “All right. If ye are certain. I can carry ye ta the keep if ye need it?”
She shook her head, and he led her inside after he stood, not letting her place her weight on her leg.
He saw that no one was around, “Damnation. They are all out training with the men. I should have had Lachlan in here ta check your wounds. But ye are the healer. Wha’ do ye need lass?”
She sat down on a hay bale, “Nothing. Just come here.”
He walked over, “Lass?”
She stood slowly, “I’m fine Callum. Just fine. I just wanted ye alone for a moment.”
