She turned in his arms, kissing his chest, “Good, that’s all I have wanted ta be.”
He kissed her over and over, then put his forehead to hers.
She shut her eyes, her breathing evening out as she relaxed in his arms and fell asleep.
He watched her sleep for a few moments, hating that he had avoided her for so long.
That after their first real conversation, he had taken her like an animal.
He wanted to get to know her. To find out everything he could about her.
He knew that she had pretended to be a maid in his keep, and that would stop now.
She was a lady and would be the mistress of this keep after he married her.
He would send for Ewan the first thing in the morning to start the process of their marriage.
He wouldn’t wait to make her his. He would show his clan that he found the girl that didn’t hate him, curse him, or wish she wasn’t his because of his scars.
He would show them all that he found the girl who didn’t believe the rumors. Who had cared for him when no one else would dare.
He pulled her a little tighter against him and kissed her forehead.
His Islay. He may have been betrothed to her sister at one point but had dreaded the entire thing. He was thankful she hadn’t wanted to meet him.
That Islay had come in her place.
She was his. He knew she was the perfect woman to stand at his side.
If his people wouldn’t accept him, they sure as hell would accept her.
She was amazing, beautiful and so perfect for him. Besides, she was raised as a Lairds daughter. She knew how to take care of a keep.
His keep.
He smiled against her hair, holding her close before sleep overtook him.
Islay
CHAPTER4
ISLAY
When she woke, it was just a dawn was peeking in the horizon.
She couldn’t believe that she slept with Callum last night.
Actually, she could. Wasn’t that part of her plan? She had no idea it would happen, but she wasn’t sad it had.
She was in love with this man. And yes, they hadn’t exactly had a bracing conversation before all this, but that didn’t matter.
She knew he was the man for her, or else she wouldn’t have even come close to this.
She never had before, and she smiled as she realized she was no longer a virgin.
It sounded as if Callum might have been, but she wasn’t certain.
She turned in the bed, seeing Callum still asleep next to her, his face calm as he slept peacefully.
