Page 49 of My Scarred Laird
He may be covered in scars, but in her opinion, it only added to his masculine beauty.
Seeing him this morning in all his glory was something she wasn’t likely to forget.
His body was laid with thick muscles under his scars, and she knew he worked twice as hard as everyone else to maintain the physique he had.
He was stunning.
Islay looked over at his profile, studying his nose, noting the bump in the bridge as if it had been broken once.
His jaw was strong, covered in a light stubble just a shade lighter than his hair.
With his hair pulled back away from his face she could see every single scar on his face.
The lines were still noticeable, but they were long healed, and she thought he was undeniably handsome.
He looked over at her, his eyebrow quirking as he caught her staring.
She smiled at him, whispering, “Ye are handsome.’
His other eyebrow rose to match the first one and he smiled slowly, “Ye are biased.”
She shook her head, “No’ in the least.”
He leaned over, kissing her quickly and she heard several gasps from the people in the room.
Callum looked back over the crowd in the great hall, “Get used ta it. I’m goin’ ta kiss my bride and kiss her a lot.”
Several of the women looked down, their faces red and one still looked shocked.
Islay said to Callum, “Ye are so naughty.”
He chuckled, “I just want them ta get used ta seeing me kiss ye. There is no way I’m no’ goin’ ta kiss my woman in front of everyone.”
She blushed a little, “Yer woman has a good ring ta it.”
“It better. And speakin’ of rings, I need ta get ye one.”
Her eyebrows rose, “Ye doona need ta.”
He smiled, “Yes I do. I want it spread far and wide tha’ I’m taken, tha’ I love ye, and tha’ no one can question any of those.”
She melted, “I like tha’. I have always wanted ta be yours.”
He kissed her again, “Eat up my love. I made certain tha’ ye have a place set up ta watch us train.”
She ate a few bites more, then nodded, “I’m ready.”
He grinned, pulling her up from her chair, and laced their fingers together as he led her from the hall.
“Who is readin’ over the letters from Angus?”
He looked over at her, “I have Fraser and Lachlan, as well as the priest. They are tryin’ ta find his cipher.”
She sighed, “It bothers me ta no end tha’ he is doin’ this ta ye.”
Callum nodded, “Aye. It’s something tha’ I doona understand. He has never wanted ta be Laird. Never had the ambitions for it. But the fact tha’ he doesna wish me ta be the Laird any longer is hard. I am no’ a bad man. I do more than most and give everyone a good life.”
“It isna ye or anything ye have done Callum. He is a greedy man tha’ only wants more. Even though what ye have done for him is more than enough. Ye have done nothing wrong. Only tried ta be a good man.”
