H earing how my twin sees me through his own eyes and experiences shatters the remaining shell from around my heart. “You really think all of that?”

His chuckle is a sad sound. “The only things you have in the ‘con’ column of this pros-and-cons list are the fact that you’ve buried this inside of you for so long, and the part where you kept your true self locked away from everyone.

..especially me,” he scolds me lovingly, and as soon as he takes a step, I know what’s coming.

“It’s okay, you don’t have to—” I’m cut off with an umph, and he plows into me and wraps me in a bone-crushing hug.

“TWIN HUG!” he sing-songs at the top of his lungs, and I hug him back.

Any time we would fight as children, when the argument was over, this was basically the way he closed the door on the disagreement, and that meant it was over.

The ritual unfortunately stuck and carried into our adult life.

Luckily, we don’t disagree much, so I’ve managed to avoid the act for quite some time.

“Alright, get off me, you lovey-dovey pain in my ass.” My words don’t have any venom in them, and he knows that. He squeezes my body one final time before pulling away.

“Now what?” he asks tentatively. He looks as though, if I said the words, he would be sprinting out of my room and collecting Runa for us to mate before lunch.

While that sounds like exactly what I’d like to do, I’ve learned from watching Roman and Leera that getting to truly know your mate makes for a much deeper connection. That’s the kind of connection I want.

I want her to look at us the way Leera looks at Roman. I want to watch her eyes sparkle when we do something for her that she doesn’t expect. I want her to know that she is irreplaceable and perfect.

“I’ve got an idea.” I grin.

After I texted Khaos and Dolos texted Leera, we were able to sit down and make a plan. We got information about Runa and her favorite kinds of things from Khaos while gathering girly tips and tricks from our squealing Luna.

Yes, squealing. When Dolos texted her, she immediately called him, squealing and rambling information faster than he could write it down.

Her happiness flooded through the pack bond, filling us with her bubbly vigor. Having never felt something so light and feminine was an experience all on its own. Even our sweet Mama was not on Leera’s level, granted, I don’t think many people are. It’s part of what makes her, her.

We brainstormed ideas and how to turn it all into one cohesive plan and then we made lists. Two lists, to be exact. A list of things we needed to get and a list of things we needed to do. Then we split both lists in half so we each had things to get and do.

Lists in hand, we bolted out of the townhouse like it was on fire. Not entirely avoiding Runa, but I knew that if I saw her again before we were able to lay out the plan of what she deserves, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from claiming her unceremoniously in the living room.
