S howered, dressed, makeup was precise, and the jewellery was placed carefully. Khasta and Khassi were beaming as they put the final touches on Keera. When a flurry of photos was taken, they headed downstairs.

There was breakfast laid out, and the ladies who remained looked and gasped.

Khasta went to the window. “Are the guys gone?”

Hever nodded. “They have left the guesthouse. Aunt Salmet has offered you a space in the formal gardens, and Techor is going to come and sign off on your wedding. It is going to be a bit bigger than originally planned, but you don’t have to do anything.

Just have breakfast, pose for Khasta, and enjoy your day. ”

“Hmm.” She carefully selected some granola snacks with her gilded nails. It had been the first treatment after her shower. “This smacks of Worro plotting.”

Khassi grinned. “He was always sneaky.”

Keera cocked her head. “Yeah. I do remember that. Gentle direction got me where he wanted me, more times than not.”

Khasta laughed. “Oh, your face when you figured that out. He’s going to love it.”

Veradil came in and gasped. “Oh, Keera. You are gorgeous.”

“Thanks. This shit is heavy.”

Khassi laughed. “Yeah, it is. Okay, someone bring a tray, and we will take some outdoor shots so Khasta can make some money on this.”

Cloud stood up and grinned. “I get to give you away, so Khassi made a dress for me. Yahtana will stand up with you with Hever.”

They walked outside, and a standing skimmer was waiting. Khasta took them to the trees at the edge of the property, and Keera sat, stood, and touched trees and flowers at command.

She did a lot of over-the-shoulder poses that highlighted all the detail Khassi put into the back of the dress.

She didn’t know how long they were there, but when Khassi lowered her camera and said, “It’s time,” Keera’s stomach fluttered.

They got back onto the standing skimmer, with Hever in her maid of honour’s gown, and Yahtana was walking with elongated legs next to them. They went to the gate that connected to the prefect’s yard, and Keera stared at the full chairs with people from her past and present.

Wellin was standing in a Sethir-style suit at the edge of the gold runner. Yahtana and then Hever got bouquets from somewhere and walked up the runner to a soft violin.

Cloud removed her cloak, and her dark gold gown was lovely and flattering to her bump. A bridal bouquet appeared, and she wrapped her arm in Clouds’, holding the bouquet, and her other hand held Wellin’s. They all walked slowly together, her siblings moving with her.

Her parents were sitting up front, and they were tearing up. Techor was in Hyreno formal, and his consortium was sitting in the crowd.

Keera took it all in while looking at Worro, and he was staring back at her, his eyes filled with wonder.

She kissed Wellin, hugged Cloud, and they both sat near her. Yahtana and Hever were next to her. Hever took her bouquet, and she and Worro faced each other, her hands in his.

The vows went by in a blur. They turned to sign the wedding contract; Keera read it and made a few notes after scribbling one part out. Worro was laughing. He nodded, made a note of his own, and she smiled and signed. He did the same, and Techor looked at their changes and laughed.

Smiling, they said their vows. Worro’s were flowery and graceful, but Keera just looked at him with a smile.

“I choose you. It has always been you. When I was happy, I wanted you to share it. When I was sad, I wanted you to hold me. When I was furious, I wanted you at my side, and when I remembered, I wanted you with me. That was a lot of want. So, Worro, I choose you as I always have and will continue to as our lives turn to one.”

He was blinking tears away, and she wrinkled her nose. “Come here, husband.”

Techor laughed and stepped to the side as they kissed. Khasta got the shots, and when Worro lifted her and they spun around, the crowd cheered and applauded.

Rings were exchanged, and she had no idea where Hever got it, but she had it, and it fit Worro’s finger securely. Then, they kissed again, and the men standing with Worro walked down the aisle next to Hever and Yahtana.

A cocktail buffet was set up, and Khasta bullied them into more photos while family lined up to take pictures.

When Worro’s parents walked up, Keera froze.

His mother saw her expression and rushed to say, “We didn’t know.

We have been with psychics and checked. We were not influenced.

We just listened to some points she made, but now, seeing you two together, we understand how much we have lost since Vaika had them remove you from Worro’s mind. It was her urging that had it done.”

Worro sighed. “I didn’t want to tell you today, but yes, she had interacted with Heraina’s grandmother and considered the tremendous power that you wielded made you a monster. It was an easy poison to spill. Heraina and Misker were both her victims.”

“Who thought Heraina and I would have so much in common?” She smiled. “Right, so you want pictures with Worro.” She stepped to the side.

His father said, “We had hoped to get pictures with the happy couple.”

Worro reached for her and pulled her back to his side. “Come on, sparkly one.”

They got pictures taken with his parents, her parents, and her little brother. Then her sisters and his buddies from the team, way back when.

Misker and Heraina, and then Alejandro and Heraina, the pictures went on and on.

Dex was grinning happily behind the crowd as she ran around keeping everything going.

It was a spectacular wedding for the amount of time they had given her.

Worro was handfeeding her, and she opened her mouth just enough to let the food in.

This part was embarrassing, but it was traditional. She chewed and swallowed. “Thanks for that.”

“No problem. You have very useful friends. Even Krix is tired from the amount of specialty items and textiles he has crafted.”

“What happened to the short vows at city hall?”

“This is so much better, isn’t it?” He grinned. “As if I wouldn’t celebrate you.”

She grimaced. “It is very thoughtful but a lot.”

“That is why the ladies were there to help. So you wouldn’t panic.”

She shook her head and opened her mouth again.

He fed her carefully, kissing her softly between bites. A lot of people she didn’t know were going to have her image in their coms.

“So, what comes next?”

“First, cake then you.”

She blinked. “Ah. Right.” She smiled. “Promises, promises.”

He grinned.

They sat close together, and the party continued around them until around four when Worro stood, lifted her to her feet, and lifted her in his arms. He walked out of the party, and Keera laughed. “Time is up?”

“Time is up. We begin now.”

She grinned as they got into the long black vehicle, and then they were on their way to his place. Keera looked at him. “How do I get the jewellery back to Khasta and Khassi?”

He snickered and played a message for her.

Khassi’s voice was amused, “ Worro said you are going to try and give them back, so this is a message that you can pass them along when another of your family members is getting married. Only then. So, you are going to be the custodian for twenty years or so. Enjoy. ”

Keera looked at Worro. “No way.”

A second message. Khasta chuckled. “ Yes, little cousin. The images and your story are going to be in every magazine and sweet story record. We are going to splatter the story of thwarted love everywhere. Worro ends up tragic and clueless, but you are determined and have intense focus. You come off rather well. ”

Keera’s eyes went wide. “What?”

Khasta continued. “ We have verified timelines and got your medical records from your family. It will be respectful but thorough. ” The message ended with, “ See you soon, cousin.”

Keera looked at Worro. “What?”

“People need to know what happened. Heraina’s journey as the tragic heroine was spread through the city in days. Yours has been silent for five years. I want it known so that no one can pretend it didn’t happen again.” Worro took her hand. “It needs to be known.”

“Right.” She pressed a hand to her chest. “It is just difficult.”

“I know, but we are going to spend some time with each other again. You get to relive my OCD house cleaning. I get to relive you cuddling up against me. By the time we are in the real world again, the rumours won’t matter, and you can resume life... with me.”

She chuckled. “You sound very happy about that.”

“I am. Having you near me is completing my soul.”

She leaned against him and held his arm. They made their way around the city and to his home.

The car pulled up in his drive, and he got out, taking her with him and then lifting her again.

“My feet work. Even in these little princess shoes.” She kicked a foot out of the froth of the layers. The gold lace shoe peeped out.

“They are very cute little princess shoes.” He chuckled. “I think my parents will be all right.”

She nodded. “They seem sad but resigned, and they wanted to be in photos, so that is something as well. Your mom was even to my side, so removing me digitally would be difficult.”

He chuckled and walked up the steps of the huge farmhouse.

He opened the door, and she held her breath as he stepped over the threshold with her. She chuckled. “There. I am well and truly kidnapped.”

“Abducted for life.”

She sighed. “So, we can kiss now.”

He laughed. “Just a little bit further.”

He walked through the house and up the stairs. He carried her into his bedroom, and she inhaled softly. Pink roses and blue irises were on every surface.

She blinked rapidly. “That is a lot of pink.”

He laughed. “I wanted to make sure that you know this house and everything in it is yours now.”

She looked up at him and smiled. “I know. Now, it took an hour to get me into all of this. How long will it take you to get it off me?”

“Oh, dearest, I am going to take my time.” He smiled and knelt at her side, removing the princess shoes one at a time.
