I was on the edge of orgasm when a little voice from the doorway chirped, “Whatcha doin’?”
Startled, I yanked my teeth free of Jagger’s neck and tried to scoot back on the counter.
Standing between my legs, Jagger pulled me closer, his fingers digging into my bottom as he thrust inside me like a madman.
I desperately tried to stave off the orgasm but was too turned on by his feral energy.
An uncontrollable whimper burst from me, pleasure cascading through every inch of my body.
As my walls squeezed Jagger’s rock-hard cock, that same little voice yelled, “Uncle Jag is wrestling with Auntie Brie again!”
Jagger jerked inside me with a low groan, his own pleasure filling our bond.
“Mellie, we’re not—” I started, then gasped when another orgasm hit me. Jagger slipped a hand between us to rub my clit through my underwear, prolonging the fresh wave of ecstasy. I gave up trying to pull away and curled my legs around his waist, moaning breathlessly.
I was in the throes of another trembling orgasm when a new voice, this one deep and male, said in exasperation, “Really, Jagger? The kitchen island? We cook and eat there.”
Realizing that our alpha had caught us having sex—again—heat flushed my face.
“I swear they’re worse than me, Vi, you, and Nora combined,” another male commented.
“Agreed,” Kolton replied to Griff. “Good thing they’re moving out today. I’m pretty sure they’ve wrestled on every surface of this house.”
“Don’t forget the garage,” Griff muttered.
Jagger ignored their teasing, lightly kissing my neck as we came down from our blissful highs. After another moment, he pulled out and readjusted our clothing but continued to stand between my legs, languidly running his hand up and down my back.
“Is Auntie Brie okay?” the little voice who’d outed us asked in concern. “Her face is all red.”
“Oh, she’s more than okay,” Griff snickered. “Just worn out from all the wrestling.”
I opened my eyes to glare at him over Jagger’s shoulder. He grinned at me like a fiend.
“What about the baby? Is she okay with the wrestling?”
Kolton glanced down at his sister in surprise. “She?”
“Yep. I had a dream last night that the new baby was a girl,” Melanie said, her dark amber eyes twinkling brightly.
Jagger stilled.
“Are you sure?” I asked her, my embarrassment suddenly long gone.
“Of course,” the almost eight-year-old replied with an upturned tilt of her nose. “My dreams are never wrong.”
And they weren’t. Her premonitions were coming more and more frequently now that her familiar’s magic had started to manifest. She was an Oracle.
A strong one. And surprisingly adept at her new abilities already.
She’d predicted that Nora and Vi would give birth on the same snowy day in early January, and they had.
Both babies had been boys, one with dark red hair and the other with blond.
Thankfully, Melanie was still clueless about the birds and the bees. Although, with her inquisitive mind, she would figure it out soon enough.
Her confirmation brought an onslaught of happy tears. “A girl,” I said in a hushed whisper, my throat tight with emotion. “We’re going to have a girl.”
Girl! Onyx exuberantly howled, and I huffed a laugh.
Jagger didn’t respond, but I felt an unexpected flicker of fear through our bond.
“What is it?” I asked him, leaning back to see his face.
Over the past couple of months, I’d learned to read him so much better.
His expressions were still subtle, but with the help of our soulmate bond, I often knew what he was thinking before he even said anything.
When I’d told him almost two months ago that I was pregnant, he hadn’t said a word.
But he didn’t need to. I could feel his sheer joy through our bond.
It had been one of the happiest moments of my life.
And now I was experiencing another one, overjoyed that we would be having a baby girl in just a few short months. Jagger, on the other hand, looked so green that I thought he would be sick. I searched his face, worried when I couldn’t hear his thoughts.
“Jagger?” I gently pressed, wondering if this was all too much for him.
Everything in his world had changed in such a short amount of time.
After recovering from his close brush with death, he’d gone from being a dominant male in the pack to an alpha.
His lone wolf status had vanished as he became a soon-to-be father and a husband in only a matter of months.
In typical werewolf fashion, we’d wasted no time getting hitched, my baby bump noticeably visible through my mermaid wedding dress.
The entirety of Midnight Pack had come to the wedding, but that wasn’t all. I’d invited everyone I could—members of the SCA we considered friends, the royal vampire family who’d become our close allies, Reid and Desirae from Lunar Falls Pack, Griff’s brother Mason from Moon Bay Pack.
And then I’d done something unheard of: I’d invited my human family.
Humans didn’t attend werewolf weddings and for good reason.
Doing so was like throwing rabbits into a wolf den.
But I’d wanted them at my wedding so badly that Jagger had caved, promising to keep them safe.
And he had. Everyone who got too close to them had received warning looks and light growls, ones that promised punishment should they overstep.
No one had dared lay a hand on my brothers or parents, deferring to Jagger’s newfound alphaness. Even Kolton had kept his distance.
But now that the wedding was over, it was time for even more big changes.
Although Jagger was still Midnight Pack’s second in command, he could no longer ignore his new alpha instincts to take charge as the leader of his own family.
Staying under another alpha’s roof was no longer possible, especially with a mate and baby on the way.
Later today, we would be moving the last of our stuff to the property directly north of the Rivers’ estate.
There was a quaint cabin-style house in the woods there surrounded by plenty of running trails, including a trail that connected to the one Jagger had frequented for the past several years. I was already in love with the place and couldn’t wait to decorate it.
Kolton had been more than understanding when we’d announced our plans to move and had even bought the house for us as a wedding present.
Nora, Vi, and I were sad that we wouldn’t all be under the same roof anymore, but now that Griff and Vi had their baby boy, it wouldn’t be long now before they too moved into their newly-built house.
Everything was changing, yet they were good changes.
They excited me, but I knew that Jagger took longer to adjust to new things.
He still struggled to open up sometimes, used to keeping his emotions to himself.
I’d grown accustomed to using our bond to interpret his silence, but for the life of me, I couldn’t decipher why the news of having a daughter made him afraid.
Jagger, speak to me, I softly urged him once more, running my fingers over the buzzed hair on his nape. Is this all happening too fast?
A line bisected his dark brows. “No, it’s not that,” he finally said, reaching up to touch the gold necklace he’d given me for Christmas—the one I wore every day and never took off. “It’s just . . . What if I fail to protect her?”
At the vulnerable look on his face, my heart melted. “Oh, Jagger,” I whispered. “You won’t fail. You sacrificed your life to protect me, and I know you’ll do the same for our daughter. And besides, you have me now. We’ll protect her together.”
The line between his brows slowly faded, and he whispered back, “I’m blessed to have you as my mate.”
“I know,” I said, flashing my dimples at him.
He leaned forward to lick one, and I burst into a fit of giggles.
“Ugh, again?” a female voice groaned. “Who caught them this time?”
“Mellie,” Kolton and Griff answered Vi at the same time.
I dropped my legs from around Jagger’s waist, and he finally, albeit reluctantly, pulled back.
Before I could hop off the counter, he grabbed my hips and lowered me to my feet, placing a less-than-chaste kiss on my lips.
For a private male, he sure wasn’t shy about PDA.
In fact, he was probably the worst out of the three males, to my delight.
I’d thought for sure he would be a bedroom-only kind of lover, but we barely used the bed for sex—unless he felt the urge to tie me up.
“Pregnancy hormones, am I right?” Vi said, wagging her eyebrows at us as she approached with a little squirming bundle in her arms.
Noticing that she was breastfeeding on the go, Jagger averted his eyes but stayed close by, slipping behind me to rest a hand on my growing stomach.
“Yes,” I agreed, reaching out to stroke Isaiah’s fine blond hair. “With the amount of sperm Jagger puts inside me on a daily basis, I’d totally be pregnant if I wasn’t already pregnant.”
Vi snorted, and Griff loudly guffawed. Jagger didn’t say a word, but I smirked when embarrassment warmed our bond.
So adorable, I crooned.
Just you wait until later, mate, he lightly growled into my mind. There will be no one to hear you scream once we’re moved into our house.
I shivered in anticipation.
“What’s so funny?” another female voice asked, and I looked over Vi’s shoulder to see my best friend enter the kitchen with her own precious baby bundle and two little toddlers.
Luca shot past, and his younger sister Lillian who’d just learned to walk desperately tried to keep up.
As she tripped and started to fall, Kolton bent down and scooped her into his arms.
“Jagger’s sperm,” Griff answered Nora, grinning again when her eyes comically widened.
“What’s sperm?” Melanie asked.
“Sperm is the stuff that comes out of a male when he wrestles with a female,” Griff replied with a wicked smirk.
Melanie wrinkled her nose. “Like sweat?”
“Well, not exactly. You see—”
“Griffin, behave yourself,” an older female voice chastised.
Charlotte pushed through the growing crowd, making for the refrigerator and completely ignoring the aroma of sex permeating her pristine kitchen.
After placing three cartons of eggs, a slab of ham, and two packets of bacon on the island, she paused to eye us all shrewdly before saying, “If you’re not in here to help me make breakfast, then scoot. ”
We all shared a collective look, one that spoke of so many things.
Life had brought us so much turmoil lately yet even more blessings.
Through the pain and heartache, we’d found connection and love.
Enemies had tried to tear us apart, but we’d fought for each other and become stronger in the process.
This world I’d been thrust into was dangerous, but as I looked at each of the faces around me, I knew that I would never have to face it alone. We were a pack. A family. And as we all started to help with breakfast, I knew that whatever fate had in store for us, our bond would last forever.
The End
