I magically fainted, stabbed someone and wasn’t conscious enough to enjoy it, rudely got punched in the head, and Khalid made a move on my woman while I was out. Good for him. I didn’t think he had it in him.

I mean, the bloke was going to have to be fine with sharing because, obviously, she was mine, too.

I was okay with it. I liked Khalid. I didn’t have much of a choice with Lucian, but maybe she’d decide we could just keep him around for me to poke and kick in the kidneys. Every relationship needed that.

But right now, there was some shit we needed to figure out because it was only cool to kill bad people. I didn’t know why that was hard for some people, but the world was full of arseholes, and I guess I was going to have to correct some of them here, too.

“Who wasn’t at the tavern?” Khalid asked.

“Not sure if you noticed, but the reincarnation of an ancient fertility god was singing karaoke and doing an amazing job of it,” Morgana drawled. “No one was looking at anyone else.”

“Thanks, love, but I only have eyes for Sage.”

“A compliment doesn’t mean I want to fuck you, dick for brains. I’ve got eyes for other people, too.”

“Good, then you can proceed to compliment me all you like.”

“Hard pass.”

“I was only looking at Liam,” Sage said. “I didn’t notice anyone else.”

I could use that. I was going to dominate that karaoke stage for the foreseeable future.

When I got to my dorm room, my guitar was there, so they must have grabbed it out of the hostel.

Mixed tapes were romantic, but not really practical anymore.

I was going to use the stage at the pub to sing her a curated playlist to romance her.

“I loathe admitting it since I hate him, but he was good,” Lucian said. “I wasn’t paying attention to anyone else, either. Someone could have used that to slip out and kill Kira.”

I hated killers who killed innocents with no rhyme or reason. I especially hated it if they used something I loved to do it. Music was a part of me, and I was good at it. I’d never tried to be famous at it because I didn’t want my family to find me and put a hit on me.

Our phones all went off at once. I looked down and there was an alert about Kira and asking us all to go back to our dorms.

“Excuse me, but how did these plebeians invade my phone?” Lucian demanded.

“They don’t go through your texts and photos, but they did put some apps on there,” Morgana said.

“Supes have our own social media, so if you want to post videos of you doing magic or announcing who you were in a previous life, you do it there. Ouroboros also has its own app designed by Headmaster Mykene. It’s got a directory where you can message other students, but it’s also got your schedule of classes. ”

“I cannot stress how much I do not want anyone from this school except maybe Sage and Khalid to message me, and social media has made everyone dumber than they were before,” Lucian moaned.

“You seem to have some handy skills with your phone that I won’t announce in front of the stabby one who doesn’t like you that having those apps installed might help you catch a killer,” Petros said.

“What’s Lucian doing with his phone?” I demanded.

Because he was already creeping on Sage in his sleep. He’d better not be doing nasty things with his phone.

“Nothing bad,” Morgana reassured me.

“It’s a start,” Khalid said. “We need everything we can get.”

“What’s everyone’s schedule? We should travel together,” Sage said.

Yes, we should. We started comparing classes, and we had a lot of them together. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we all had history first thing in the morning, followed by arcane magic, and then potions. We had a two-hour break that I guess was for lunch and study, then defense classes.

Tuesday and Thursday were where our schedules differed.

We all had shifting together in the morning because I guess that was a thing we could all do, but after that, Sage went to a class about caring and bonding with familiars, Lucian went to some vampire etiquette class so I guess he didn’t snap and bite me again, Khalid was doing research with a history professor, and I was doing nature shite with the fairies.

We had another two-hour break for lunch and study, and that was when our work assignment studies came into play.

I was in the kitchens helping prepare dinner on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Khalid went back to his history professor.

Headmaster Mykene had assigned Sage to her office, which usually would have made me suspicious, but now that I knew Sage was a big bad in her previous life, it was probably a mentorship thing.

“I knew I was going to be working with Professor Kane doing history stuff,” Khalid said.

“I wanted the kitchen,” I said.

Because aside from music, I really enjoyed cooking.

“We didn’t really talk about jobs, but I needed to have one to go here,” Sage said.

“My parents let me get kidnapped, but they haven’t cut me off.”

“Oh, on your desks are your welcome packets,” Morgana said.

“She told you about your trusts, right? You won’t get complete access to them until you graduate, but they’ve given you debit cards with an allowance so you can buy necessities.

They don’t use it for tuition because they think working builds character. ”

Elliot snorted. I rather liked that bloke.

“I’ve got plenty of character.”

“Samesies,” I said, holding out my fist.

Elliot bumped my fist.

Petros yawned again.

“As much as I hate rules, there’s a serial killer out there and we need to get back to our dorms.”

Damn. I didn’t want to leave Sage, but I had to. And I didn’t get my kiss. The mood was ruined now. I was going to have to plan something much better for our first kiss.
