Epilogue

Naomi

“ H ow are the nerves, dear girl?” Rupert entered the suite, looking resplendent in his dark grey tail suit, complete with a pale blue tie and pocket square.

A pure white rose intertwined with lily of the valley, nestled neatly in his buttonhole. I’d never seen him looking so handsome.

“You scrub up well.” I fiddled with the lapels of his jacket, anything to stop the tremble of my hands.

“As do you, darling. You look positively radiant.” He took my hands and held me at arm’s length. “And that gown is divine.”

Oscar had totally outdone himself this time.

The ivory silk dress was floor length, with a sweeping train, festooned with thousands of sparkling crystals.

The gown itself was fitted with thin straps.

Not unlike the one I wore the first time I met Ellie.

A small gold tiara sat on my head. Simple yet elegant.

I wore an ivory bolero jacket to ward off the cool air. February could be so cold.

Not that we’d be outside. The wedding was being held at an exclusive wedding venue a few miles outside of London. Ellie and I had taken rooms here, as had many of the guests, all at Rupert’s expense.

“If my one and only daughter is getting married, then I’ll make sure she does it in style. Hang the expense. I can’t take it with me.”

Ellie and I had chosen not to wait, and just six months from when we first met, we were tying the knot. Neither of us could see the point in waiting when we both knew we’d never find another love. We were it for each other.

We’d both known it from the start, although we’d been reluctant to admit it at first.

Since returning from Portugal, we’d been inseparable, and Ellie had finally moved into the apartment after some very persuasive arguments from me that may or may not have involved some magical nights of lovemaking.

“Now, I brought this for you to wear,” he said, interrupting my thoughts. He opened a black satin box and picked up a rose gold necklace with diamonds that glistened in the winter sunlight.

“This is your something old. This was my mother’s.” He fastened it around my neck.

“Rupert, I couldn’t.” I admired the necklace as it lay on my chest. It really was exquisite.

“You are family, my only daughter. It’s only right it should be passed down to you. Now what do you have that’s new?”

“The dress, of course, and I have this blue garter that Oscar made for me. Melinda has lent me a bracelet, so I think we have all bases covered.”

Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Some traditions were too good to leave behind.

“Then we’re all set. We have a couple of minutes before we need to leave, and I wanted to talk to you about something while we’re alone.”

Was everything okay? “Oh my God. Are you ill?”

“Good Lord, no, but I want to talk to you about my will.”

“Is now the time?”

“No time like the present. I’ve drawn up some papers for you to sign, making you my adoptive daughter. When I do eventually go, I need to make sure that nothing is left to chance, and that you will inherit my entire fortune, save for a few bequests.”

“Fuck, Rupert. That’s a lot of money.”

He shrugged. “I know, and I suggest you do the same. It’s never too early to write a will.”

We were interrupted by a knock on the door.

“Come in.” I knew it’d be Melinda, and I wasn’t wrong. “We’ll talk about this later, Rupert.”

She stood in the doorway, her pale blue dress shimmering in the sunlight that streamed through the window.

“You look amazing, Naomi.” She rushed forward and hugged me. “I can’t believe you’re finally getting married. I never thought I’d see the day, and Ellie is so perfect for you. I should never have doubted her or you.”

“You look wonderful yourself. Is she already downstairs?” I couldn’t wait to see what Oscar had picked out for her.

“She is, and she looks as fantastic as you do. Come on, and you can see for yourself.”

“Are you ready, Rupert?” I turned to face my ‘father’.

“More than you’ll ever know.” He kissed the back of my hand, and I took his arm.

We made our way downstairs, Melinda walking in front.

She preceded me down the aisle along with Ellie’s nieces, Sophie and Roxie, the colour of their dresses matching Melinda’s. The flower garlands in their hair were perfect. They looked beautiful.

Each of them had small bouquets of roses and lily of the valley. It had been Ellie’s father’s favourite flower, and even though he couldn’t be there to give her away, he’d be with her in spirit.

My bouquet was bigger, with the same flowers but with cascades of greenery, almost sweeping the floor.

I smoothed down my dress and took a deep breath. It was now or never.

The doors opened, and there she was, waiting at the end of the aisle. And fuck, she looked gorgeous.

Her pant suit was white, no frills and no fuss, beneath it a simple pale blue camisole top.

She wore a pair of white Converse, as was her style, but her dark hair was up, sprinkled with the simplest of white flowers.

She wasn’t a girly girl, my Ellie, but today I’d have moved the moon and the stars to spend an eternity with her.

We’d deliberated over music and had finally settled on Endless Love, because that was what we had, a love that transcended time and space.

A love for all times, a love that bound us together.

Lucy stood at her side and held her hand. She was nervous, I could tell. The nibble of her lip gave it away. I’d have to kiss that later.

I nodded to friends and family as I made my way down the aisle until finally I stood before her. Tears filled her eyes, and I was close myself. I handed my bouquet off to Melinda, and we stood before the registrar.

“You look stunning.” She took my hand in hers. “I never thought this would happen.”

I hadn’t either. I thought I’d never find anyone to settle down with, but Ellie had swept into my life so quietly and with no fuss, she’d stolen my heart before I’d had time to breathe.

I gazed upon her, barely hearing the service. All I could think about was her and how I’d get to spend each and every day with her from now on.

We exchanged rings. Hers was a simple gold band; mine, platinum, to match the engagement ring she’d bought for me. Both perfect in their simplicity.

We stuck to traditional vows, both agreeing to love and cherish until death do us part.

“We know you’re a law unto yourself.” Ellie winked at me. “Not sure you’ll obey me.”

That drew laughter from the guests, except they didn’t have to know I’d do anything she asked of me in the bedroom.

Lorenzo had done the catering, serving the most delicious Italian food and, of course, the cake. Who knew Felicity was such a talented cake decorator?

“Do you think she’ll decorate her own cake when she marries Melinda?” I asked Ellie as we snuggled in a corner away from prying eyes.

The day had been exhausting, and we were more than ready to go to bed and leave the revellers revelling.

“Hmm, who knows? And what is it with Oscar and Guy? I can’t decide if they want to punch each other or fuck?”

“Oh, my dear Ellie. There is so much going on there. You have a lot to learn. Mayfair Heights is like a little town with its loves and lies, fights and feuds. It really is where love hits home.”

Ellie

We said our goodbyes and made our way to the bedroom. Today had been tiring but a day I’d never forget. Naomi had looked enchanting, and as much as I’d loved spending the day with friends and family, tonight was ours.

We’d barely closed the door to our suite before we came together in a whirl of kisses and caresses. With each passing minute, they became more frantic, until we were desperate for each other.

“Fuck, Ellie. I’ve been dying to do this all night.”

She removed my camisole and undid the push-up bra, revealing my breasts to her. She latched on straight away, sucking and licking each one in turn.

I barely had time to breathe but finally came to my senses.

“Strip. Now,” I said and did the same, almost overbalancing as I removed my Converse. Today had been torture, seeing her and not being able to touch or taste.

Before long, we stood naked, except for the white lace thong she wore. I wanted to rip it from her body.

Fuck! She tempted me like no other.

“Let’s take this to bed.” She almost ran through the lounge to the bedroom, where the huge dark wood four-poster bed commanded the space with its red velvet curtains.

I was mesmerised by the swing of her hips, the taste of her mere moments away.

She lay on the bed and beckoned me to her.

Her nipples stiffened as she rubbed between her legs. She was a goddess and a temptress, and I was helpless to resist her.

I climbed onto the bed, slid the scrap of fabric she wore down her legs, and revealed her in all her glory, her tight curls trimmed into a small triangle.

She bent her knees and dropped one to the side, opening herself for me. Her pussy was warm and inviting, her arousal a delicious smell.

“Come here, baby.” She rasped, her voice thick with desire.

I did as she asked and sucked in my stomach. While it wasn’t as big as it had been, it was still enough for me to be conscious of it.

“Don’t do that.” She stroked the silver stretch marks that marred my skin.

“Old habits, I guess.”

“You don’t have to hide yourself from me, Ellie. You know this.”

I knew and while I was getting better, there were still moments where I worried.

“I have something for you.” She opened the drawer next to her and waggled a purple silicone dildo at me, and I shivered despite the heat in the room. She always had that effect on me.

I took it from her and ran my hand down its length. Thick and long enough to bring her to the heights of pleasure. I sucked it into my mouth, watching her closely. She widened her eyes, her pupils almost invisible in her deep brown irises.
