I masked my scent when I crossed the California border.

For the past month I've been in Washington.

When I left all I could think about was getting as far as I could from the Royal Pack but I needed to stay close in case anything happened.

Washington was close to The Royal Pack and The Lunar Shadow Pack to keep an eye on them, but far enough for me to stay unnoticed. The packs are in California by the way.

I sniff and I know I'm not far from the Castle. Let me tell you, this border patrol sucks ass. Given that I masked my scent and I'm super fast but still.

When I could hear music and smell food I stopped and shifted back into my human form with my choice of clothes on with make up and jewelry (Above).

I'm still basically the same except the fact that my eyes are electric blue with a silver ring around it and the blue portion has flecks of silver in it.

I walk towards the Castle and I feel Jasmine getting restless.

'We are here for Cameron, not him.' I tell her.

Jasmine sighs sadly in my head, 'I know.

..I just can't help it.' She says sadly.

'I understand Jaz but we have to stay strong.

' I tell her and my attention is brought to the sight in front of me.

Tons of people in the backyard of the Castle. Lights are hung everywhere and people are dancing and laughing and talking. Basically everyone is having an awesome time.

I scan the crowds of people, still hidden by the darkness of the forest, it's dark considering it's 11:29 pm. The kids are long asleep so it's just teens and adults outside. I continue looking until my eyes land on the person I'm here for.

Cameron is standing there laughing surrounded by his friends.

Among his friends is Jason which makes me smile.

What shocks me is that Evan and Sean are apart of his group.

I lean up against a nearby tree an watch the party for a few minutes.

I see Cameron looking around every minute or so and I also notice Jason is doing the same.

I smile slightly, Cameron must have told him that I might come back on his birthday.

I walk hidden in the trees towards my brothers and stand in the dark so I can see them but they can't see me. I start to hum the song our mom used to sing to us when we were little. Jason's head snaps to attention and not a second later so does Cameron's.

I know you are like, "So what? It's a lullaby that tons of moms sing to their kids." Actually our mom wrote this song for us herself so that's why it's so important to us.

I stop humming when Cameron and Jason look at each other. I chuckle softly and walk out of the shadows. Their eyes snap from each other to me and they stand there in shock. I smirk, "Miss me?" I ask. "Jay!" They yell and run to me before pulling me into a bone crushing hug.

"Can't breathe guys." I wheeze out and they let go.

I breathe in deeply, "Okay, first rule is NO more doing that.

" I tell them sternly but then smile at my brothers.

The are both smiling at me brightly and Cameron hugs me again, "Best birthday gift so far.

" He laughs and I feel Jason join our hug and I smile to myself.

We pull apart from the hug and Cam and Jace both stand back and cross their arms with stern looks on their faces, "Uh oh.

" I mumble. "You got some explaining to do young lady.

" Jason says and Cam nods in agreement. "Not tonight.

Tonight is Cameron's night which is the reason I came back in the first place.

By the way, Happy 18th little brother." I say and Cameron nods and smiles. Jason sighs and nods his head too.

For the next hour I catch up with my brothers and chill with their friends. Sean and Evan have been given me glances and whispering to each other, I roll my eyes knowing the reason behind their behavior...Ryder.

I talk to Jason and Cameron a bit longer before they both look behind me and glare, I hear a quiet growl come from Cam's throat, it was so quiet I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that heard it.

I didn't have to even turn around to know why.

My body tensed and Jasmine whined in sadness in the back of my mind yet she was also happy.

There's only one person who would make her feel like that, not to mention his scent was strong as hell, his Old Spice scent.

I sighed and turned around. He look exactly the same, the same man I left a month ago.

He was wear black skinny jeans, a black button up with the sleeves rolled up, and black Converse.

He stared at me with shock, "Jade?" He asked in disbelief.

"Alpha King." I greet with venom in my voice and he flinch slightly.

"Jade please can we talk?" He asked. I narrow my eyes at him, "No.

I'm here to celebrate my little brother's birthday.

So if you'll excuse me." I say and turn back to my brothers.

I feel a hand grip my wrist and I freeze, "Let go of my wrist Mathews.

" I growl out lowly. "Jade we have to talk.

" He says and I feel him squeeze my wrist.

I let out a fierce growl and rip my wrist from his grip, "I told you to let go of me.

" I growl and turn to face him. People start to look at the scene taking place.

"Jade." He says, it's a warning. I tilt my head to the side, "What?

Are you embarrassed that you are getting yelled at by a pack member, let alone your own mate? " I ask and spit out the word mate.

He glares at me and a warning growl comes from his chest, "Jade I'm your Alpha King, mate or not, you will show respect.

Especially in front of my pack." He tells me with anger lacing his voice.

I roll my eyes, "Oh here I was thinking it was our pack!

" I fake gasp. He glares at me harder, "Oh and by the way, mate or not, respect is earned. " I mock him and then growl at the end.

He opens his mouth to speak but Jason steps in, "Both of you stop it.

Deal with your problems later. Ryder this is our little brother's birthday so what you have to say can wait until tomorrow.

" He says and Ryder growls at him. "Growl at him one more time and you won't have a tongue to do it again.

" I threaten him. Ryder glares at me and then nods at Jason.

I turn back around and walk back to Cameron, "Sorry Cam, I didn't want this to happen at your party." I apologize to him. Cameron smiles at puts his arm around my shoulder, "You know, I know something you can do to make up for it." He tells me with a knowing voice.

I narrow my eyes suspiciously at him, "What?

" I ask. Cameron smirks, "Sing for me." He says.

It takes a moment to register, "Cam...I can't." I tell him and hang my head down.

"Yes you can Jay." He says and lifts my head up.

"Please? For me? I only turn eighteen once.

It can be my present!" He pleads. I look into his blue eyes and give in, "Ugh, you are so lucky you are my little brother.

" I tell him. He chuckles and smiles proudly, "Yeah I know. "

I sigh and walk up to the stage that already has some people up there singing and playing.

I wait until they finish before I walk up to the band members and tell them what song I was going to sing.

They all nodded and I grabbed a black acoustic guitar and go to center stage and stand in front of the mike.

"Hey guys. If you don't know me, I'm Jade Collins AKA the older sister to the birthday boy here. Due to his request I'm going to sing a song. This is for you Cam." I say and then smile at Cameron. I start to strum the melody to the song and then start to sing Sandcastlesby Zach Sobiech.

I finish the song with one last strum of the guitar.

Everyone starts clapping and whistling. I give a small bow and sit the guitar down.

I turn and I'm crushed into a tight hug.

From the butterscotch scent I knew it was Cameron.

I chuckle softly and hug him back. "Thank you Jay, that was awesome.

" He says and pulls back from the hug. I shake my head, "Anything for you Cam, you are my baby brother after all.

" I say as we walk off the stage and back into the crowd of people.

"Hey! I'm not a baby anymore. I 18 now remember.

" He says stubbornly. "Awe. You will always be my baby brother no matter what Cam.

" I say and pat his cheek. I hear a laugh and Jason walks up beside us, "I'm with Jade on this one.

" He says. Cam rolls his eyes, "Of course you are. " He mutters but then smiles.

After twenty minutes the party starts to die down since it's now almost 1 in the morning.

I look around and see that Ryder is no where in sight, I sigh in relief.

When we get to the fifth floor where Jason and Cam are staying I hug them both.

"Night guys." "Night Jay." They both say and go to their rooms.

I sigh and walk to elevator and go to the 1st floor. I go to an empty guest room and lock the door. I strip my clothes and hop in the shower. I wash myself and then get out. I change into a black crop top and black shorts.

I brush through my long black hair that goes to my ass and then put it up into a high ponytail. I plug my phone up with the charger I brought with me and then slide under the covers of the bed. I relax and my eyes become heavy and I fall into a dreamless sleep.
