Amidst the bullets, knives were thrown at him. Some he caught and threw right back, while others he twisted away from with the fluidity of a huge cat. When they realized that staying in hiding to 'capture' him wasn't working out they came out and attacked outright.
Wolfaraine allowed the rage that had built in him since they kidnapped Ismena to wash over him. They were a lot of them, and he did not have the time to savor his kill, so he went straight for the vital points, killing them swiftly and fast.
Men fell around him, torn apart or missing some parts of their bodies. Pained shouts filled the air as they dropped—some died instantly, and some convulsed for a long time before they eventually gave up.
Wolfaraine took a bullet in his thigh, but it did not stop him. Or slow him down .
"Holy shit! He's gonna kill all of us! What are you waiting for, you animal!? Use the damn fatal bullets!" The same voice he'd spoken to at the beginning shouted, his tone filled with fear. There was none of the smugness and certainty he'd heard before.
Wait. Fatal bullets?
His hand—which was all bloody from catching rhodium-made bullets—shot out behind him and snatched the bullet that was going his neck. He pulled the bullet to his nose and inhaled deeply.
Wolfaraine froze. Sigillaria Leaves.
For a moment, time stood still as all kinds of thoughts and emotions flooded him.
Where did they get Sigillaria Leaves!? How did they know about it!?
There was a shock, then there was anger. For a second...just a second...he felt betrayed. Did Ismena tell them?
Horror followed betrayal. Did they torture the information out of her?
Time started moving again. Wolfaraine caught two of those bullets and fisted them hard until they were deformed to ensure they were beyond reuse.
Swiftly, he ran in the direction of that voice, sniffing loudly until he got to the man's exact location and pulled him out from behind a pile of bags of sand. A quick once-over showed the man was older than he'd thought. Probably early fifties.
"Try laughing now, human." He drawled savagely .
"What are you...!?" The older man began, but Wolfaraine shoved four fang-fingers into his neck and ruthlessly pulled out his throat. The man began making gagging sounds.
Just then, more bullets came, and he used the man as a shield. All those bullets went into the man.
However, one went through the man and entered his thigh—the same thigh he already took a rhodium bullet in.
A groan tore from his throat at the painful sting. Instantly, he felt himself weakening. Shit.
Wolfaraine let go of the dead body, dropping to his knees before he was suddenly unable to bear his own weight.
"I got him! I got him! Shit, he killed Adeladin!"
That voice sounded familiar, his dazed mind thought.
Another bullet caught his shoulder. Already, he could feel the paralysis moving all over his body.
He heard the unmistakable sound that indicated a man trying to fire a gun without a bullet.
"Shit, I'm out! The damn fatal bullets have finished, dammit!" The same familiar voice shouted in frustration.
"Doesn't matter. I think we got him. He is down. Finally...!"
Those were the last words he heard before he lost consciousness. But those weren't his last thoughts.
His last thoughts were: For this attack, he counted on everything, except the Segillaria Leaves .
An hour later, Dr. Beloca's mouth was left hanging open after their captive was put in his prison cell—the same cell that housed his mate.
Beloca looked around. but could not find all his men. Just two soldiers and Cronus.
He faced the two soldiers, "What took you all so long? It's been four damn hours. Where did Adeladin go with the rest of the men? They should have reported back to the lab before—" he began.
"They are all dead, including the General, sir." One of the men replied, looking like a man who fought with a tiger. "Just the three of us survived."
Surely he did not hear the man right. "I told Adeladin to arrange exactly one hundred and fifty soldiers. Cronus excluded. Don't tell me that he killed one hundred and—"
"That is exactly what I'm telling you, sir.
We lost all our men. If not that the anima—I mean, Cronus.
.." he corrected himself quickly when the same Cronus glared at him, ".
..used those fatal bullets to finally get to him, we would all be dead.
I have never seen such...savagery in my entire life. I need to go use the bathroom."
The soldier turned and rushed out of the door. The remaining soldier quickly followed suit too.
Dr. Beloca, Dr. Gideon, and Cronus remained. They stood atop the stairs, staring at the prison cell that housed their prisoners. Both were unconscious.
"He killed one hundred and forty-eight men, huh?" Dr. Gideon sounded somewhat amused .
It angered Dr. Beloca, "You would not be finding it so funny if it was your head, Gideon."
The doctor straightened, clearing his throat. "You're right. That was uncalled for. Sorry." He muttered.
"He killed Adeladin!" Dr. Beloca was shaking at the force of his anger. "I will kill that monster myself!"
Cronus snorted, "Good luck with that."
Dr. Beloca veered around, facing him, "And what about you? You simply could not capture him before he killed all our men!?"
"If you think he is so easy to capture, you are free to try getting really close to that cell when he wakes. You don't even need to open the locks, just stand in front of those bars. I dare you, human." Cronus rotated his neck until it made the crack sound. Damn he was exhausted.
Dr. Beloca drew deep breaths into his lung, forcing himself to calm down. "What about the bullets? You took all twenty-four of them to go capture him?"
"We took twenty with us. I think we got him with two or three, " Cronus averted his eyes, "he destroyed the others."
"What the fuck!?" He lost his men, his good friend, AND his valuable bullets!
"Calm down, Doctor. Console yourself with the fact that you finally have the man causing you all these grievances as a captive now." Dr. Gideon suggested.
"You're right, you are right." Dr. Beloca took a deep breath before he glared at the huge, unconscious man lying beside the fragile-looking woman behind the cell. Even unconscious, the man still looked so damn intimating .
"I will drug him up so bad that the arousal he'll feel will drive him to the point of madness until he has no other choice than to fuck that woman beside him ruthlessly.
..over and over and over again. I will dose him with all kinds of drugs until he is as high as a kite, as insane as a sociopath.
Till there is nothing left of his mind and those two beasts inside him. " Beloca vowed.
Cronus turned to leave and stopped, "The only advice I'll give you, human doctor is to remain as far away from him as possible while carrying out your sick, beautiful fantasies.
With the rage I glimpsed burning inside him in that hideout?
" he threw a look behind him, "He will tear you apart to tiny little pieces the first chance he gets. "
