"I think he wants to use her as bait to get to you," Alphose said, coming up to stand beside Degar.
"I think so too." Degar seconded.
"I don't think that's the only reason, though. Naturiah is a huge world. He can easily hide out in any cage and do whatever he plans to do. So why take her to the human world?" Adanel asked thoughtfully.
"Unless there are people who want her alive. Humans." Wolfaraine added.
"The Facility."
All of them turned to look at Adanel as he said those words. Their eyes held horror at what he was implying, but it made sense the more they thought about it.
"Think about it," Adanel continued, "He could have just killed her if he wanted her dead, but he kidnapped her and took her away. He could have taken any other female from here, but he chose her. That means The Facility is involved, and they want you...Number 6. All this is a trap to get you."
Not The Facility!
The wolf roared inside him in sheer denial, and prowling to the fury, and the cougar snarled. Wolfaraine threw his head back and roared to the sky in agony.
His woman is in the hands of those monsters. They will pump her full of drugs that will cripple her mind and torture her entire body. They will breed her to man after man until she is in the very blink of death, yet they will not be merciful to allow her to die .
The tears he has been fighting since he got the news of her disappearance escaped then. Wolfaraine stood, staring at his Alphas with green, blue, and amber eyes filled with tears, "A fate worse than death itself. Those heartless monsters."
Degar quickly dismissed Flaora, knowing that Wolfaraine would not like to be seen in a such vulnerable state. The three Alphas stood helplessly, watching their strong Alpha King break down in tears. The sight broke their heart.
"We will find her," Alphose offered encouragingly.
Wolfaraine shook his head miserably. "She has been through that before. She barely made it out alive. It killed the little girl she was. She should never have to go through that ever again. I will kill them. All of them.
"We will kill them." Degar corrected, fury in his eyes, "It's better we figured out what has happened to her. It will help us make the necessary preparations—"
Wolfaraine shook his head firmly. "No amount of preparation will help us find her if you do not know where to begin searching.
The human world is a big place, too Degar.
We've been hunting for their laboratories for almost two decades now, but we still haven't been able to find all of them.
They are so hidden that they can be anywhere, anywhere, and everywhere.
We don't have the time it will take to search the whole damn world, dammit! "
Ismena has no idea how long has passed since that monster tried to force himself on her, but they've thrown her a sheer dress and a blanket and brought her food since then. If that...thing can be termed as food. She didn't touch it .
Her body hurt too much for her to feel the hunger for food. She'd cried until she couldn't anymore, now hiccup after hiccup raked her throat occasionally. Thankfully as time passed, the burn receded until it remained a sore ache.
Oh God, how long have I been here? How is Wolfaraine coping with my disappearance?
She was worried about him as much as she was worried about herself. She has no idea what these people are planning to do with her, but whatever it is it cannot be good. A whimper left her throat when cramps set in on her legs because she has been in the same position for a long time.
Ismena uncurled herself from the floor, drawing the blanket over her body. Heavens, she was so cold... And hungry.
Her belly rumbled. She stared at the dirty-looking doughnuts in a rubber plate kept just outside her cage.
Gripping the blanket tightly, she crawled towards the bars, outstretched her hand towards the plate, and began pulling it closer to her till she was able to reach it enough to pick up the plate.
But it dawned on her that the plate couldn't be squeezed through the bars, or the doughnuts would be a mess.
She stopped trying to bring the plate in. Instead she ate it that way. Tears filled her eyes as she ate. She wanted to be brave, but it was so hard to be when she's not seeing any escape from this place in her near future. Unless she dies.
"Please God, save me. I don't want to die..." She wept bitterly while forcing the nasty doughnuts down her throat .
Two hours later, Cronus was still fuming about what happened down the underground. He sat sullenly in one of the labs, glaring at the crack in the otherwise perfect color of the white wall of the room.
Impatience was killing him. He had been here for almost twenty-four hours, and his body was literally crawling with impatience. The worst part was that they won't allow him to have some fun.
He had been so excited about being included in the production of the drugs, the bullets that were made with the Sigillaria Leaves he handed in that he didn't really care much about their plans because he was sure of the end game; The death of Wolfaraine.
Damn he should have paid more attention when they were planning this shitty plan of theirs.
So, their plan is for him to stay like this for the next three days, bored out of his mind and lusting after a human female who he apparently can't have—one who might even die from the drugs she'll be injected with before the Alpha King gets her—doing nothing but waiting?
Over my dead body!
Cronus rose and matched out of the lab. He headed for the underground to one of the hidden rooms where they kept the disposable phones.
"What the fuck did you just do!?" Dr. Beloca roared as he stepped into the Secret Room. His body vibrated with anger as he stared at Cronus with stark horror on his face.
Cronus was unfazed, "I gave a little speed to this crawling car we're in."
"You called Number 6!? We were supposed to do that in the next three days!" The doctor shouted.
"A good waste of time, really. I figured that if I can't have fun, there's no point wasting time.
" He shrugged, "Don't worry doc, everything will still go according to the plan.
I used the voice changer tool we got, so he does not know who it is.
The signals were jammed, too. He didn't get an inkling about our location.
I told him to meet at the safe house we planned to use for his ambush, and I warned him to come alone, or we would kill her.
So, you see? Everything is still going according to plan. I just sped things up."
"What did he say?" Beloca asked through gritted teeth.
Cronus smirked, "He was spitting fire like I knew he would, but..." He shuddered visibly, "...he was very graphic about the way he was gonna kill me—well, the caller—when he finds us. He did agree to come alone though, after I told him that we would kill her if he didn't."
"How sure are you that he will come alone?"
"He is a male of his word, human. If he said he will, then he will. Anyway any other alpha he comes with will die. We got twenty-four bullets from the Sigillaria Leaves. They will die if they come." Cronus said with a triumphant grin. "Whatever way it goes, it's still in my favor."
Beloca took deep breaths to calm himself. The annoying man was right, it was still going according to plan. He just hated that the man went behind him.
The worst part was that he couldn't even punch the man because the man was twice his size and had thrice his strength.
"What about the female? There's not enough time to test out the drugs, the dosage, her capacity, and everything we need to get her pregnant?" He kept his voice cool .
Cronus waved him away, "We really don't need all that, but if It's gonna make you cry like a baby, you have at least five to six good hours before her mate comes. Do with her whatever you will."
"But—"
"Time's a-wasting, doc. Instead of preaching, you can go get started right now."
Beloca huffed angrily and stormed away.
Ismena was sleeping when she felt a hand waking her up. She stirred.
"She's awake now, doc." The unfamiliar voice sounded distant to her hazy mind.
"Inject her. Do two dosages. For now, let's see how she responds to them."
Inject? Dosage?
Before she could determine what was going on, she felt a sting in her arm. Just as fast as it began, another sting followed.
"What are you doing to me?" She asked, unable to keep the tremors from her voice.
"Give it a second, honey." Was the response she got.
What does he mean by—
Pain like she had never felt before tore through her entire body. Her belly felt like it was tearing apart.
Ismena threw her head back and screamed so loud at the excruciating agony.
