The second I stepped into the Silver Shadows’ clubhouse, Reaper punched me in the face. Lying on the floor, I rubbed my jaw as the bossman laid into me in front of God and everybody.
“You stupid motherfucker!” he roared. “Do you know what you’ve done?”
“Not gonna apologize for killing him, boss,” I said firmly, looking up at the irate man. “Not after what he did to my woman and countless others. Fucker needed to die, and you know it.”
“He wasn’t yours to kill, Massacre!”
Scrambling to my feet, I yelled, “Then I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t kill him!”
Pointing his finger in my face, he seethed, “This isn’t over, asshole. When I get your ass back to California, you and I are going to have a long fucking talk in the ring. Got me?”
I slowly nodded as Amber rushed over to me and hugged me tightly. “I was so worried.”
Holding her tight, I kissed the top of her head. “All’s good, baby.”
“No, it’s not good,” King said, standing off to the side, arms crossed over his chest as he glared at me. “You want to explain to me why you are not behind bars?”
Looking around the room, I didn’t see Romeo and asked my own question, trying to deflect from answering him. “Where is Casanova?”
“In his own cell under lock and key until he decides to tell me the truth,” King stated. “Why? Would you like to join him? Because I can make it happen. And who the fuck are these people?”
Gio chuckled. Reaper grinned, leaning against the bar, as Reggie backed up along with Lo and Tony, who whispered, “Oh, this is gonna be good.”
“Son,” Sal began only to stop when King growled. Starting over, Sal’s shoulders slumped as he introduced my Uncle Brian and my mother. “This is Brian Buchanon and Daniella Valentinetti Buchanon. Dwayne and Reginald’s mother and uncle but more importantly, Brian is my cousin, which makes Dwayne and Reginald your cousins.”
“Oh shit,” Cash cursed.
“Are you fucking kidding me?!” Blade shouted as Maureen and Declan walked into the clubhouse. Seeing the stupefied look on King’s face, Declan groaned, “You motherfucker. You told him!”
“He would have figured it out eventually!” Sal shouted back.
Pointing at Brian, Dec asked, “And did you tell him this asshole is your boss?”
“ENOUGH!” King roared, stomping off toward church. “I don’t have time for this shit.”
Maureen jumped in front of Dec and glared at Sal. “Stop it. The both of you. Now is not the time for this.”
“I agree,” Cash interjected. “We have a big club problem to deal with, so the family reunion will have to wait.”
“He can’t keep ignoring me,” Sal snapped at the vice president.
“Back off, O’Malley,” Brian sneered. “Leave the kid alone.” Then, turning to Declan, he pointed his finger and said, “You should have told him sooner.”
“I never planned on telling him shit,” the sheriff clipped. “If Maureen hadn’t shown up, he would never have known.”
“He’s family. He had a right to know.”
“It’s not what his mother wanted,” the sheriff argued.
Leaning close, Brian seethed, “You don’t know what she wants.”
Chapter Forty-One
Massacre
Walking into church, I went to sit next to my brother when Reaper cleared his throat. Standing behind a chair, he pointed at it. “I want you close for this.”
Grumbling, I walked over and sat as the bossman leaned over and whispered, “And God help you if you embellish this story. I want short, precise responses.”
