Looking at Romeo, I sighed. “It was all my idea. As much as I wanted Scott dead, I knew going against the Brotherhood was suicide.”
“But Morpheus didn’t order me.” Romeo nodded. “So that left us with options.”
“You can barely hit the broad side of a barn, Rome,” Jackass groaned. “It’s why you carry your knife. Besides, you were on the street. So we know it wasn’t you.”
“It was me,” Winchester declared, standing in the doorway.
King lowered his head. “Tell me you didn’t.”
Walking further into church, Winchester shut the door and said, “Wasn’t gonna let Amber suffer anymore, Prez. I’m sorry. If you want my cut, I will understand.”
“Do you have any idea what you’ve done?” Cash asked.
“Doesn’t matter,” the club brother stood firm. “Amber’s family and we take care of family. Fuck everyone else.”
“Win’s right, Prez,” Romeo piped up. “I couldn’t live with myself if that fucker got away. We had the shot, and we took it.”
“YOU STARTED A WAR!” King roared.
Shaking his head, Reaper sighed. “War had already started, King. Told you that the last time I was here. The second Steele joined forces with the Death Dogs, it was only a matter of time. Your time is up. You know what you must do next. If not, this club will be on the losing side.”
“What about the Brotherhood?” King asked.
Taking a deep breath, Reaper leaned back in his chair and said, “They are the wild card. Right now, Morpheus has Bane. Montana isn’t going to like that one bit, but he won’t do anything until he knows for sure what Morpheus is after. So, that gives us time to plan and prepare.”
“I’ve got a man in the Death Dogs, Reaper.”
“Get him out. Today,” Reaper ordered. “Because when Skinner makes his move, he will keep a tight rein on those around him. Don’t want your brother getting caught in the crossfire.”
“Cash, go have Brandy make the call.”
“The biggest problem is you.”
“Me?”
Reaper looked at King and said, “You need to call for a vote. As long as Steele is president of the Mother Chapter, he can order all of you to support the Death Dogs.”
“Fuck that shit,” Gunner sneered.
“Ain’t happening,” Colt snarled. “I’ll fucking turn in my cut before I support those fuckers.”
“Me too,” Jackass and Blade said in unison.
“Didn’t join the Silver Shadows to fight along scum,” Tank admitted as Archie, the club prospect, ran into church without knocking.
“What the hell, prospect?!” Cash growled.
“There’s...” the young man sputtered. “He’s...” he said, looking behind him. “Joey’s...”
“I know that look,” Reaper said as he got to his feet and looked around the table before grabbing his blades and securing them on his back. “I hope you boys are armed.”
Already standing, Reggie and I were checking our guns as I walked over to the prospect and pulled him further into the room and asked, “How many?”
“Just one,” the kid barely spoke. “Big fucker. Mean-looking too.”
“Nav?” King growled, checking his guns as Blade and Jackass slipped out the window with Romeo and Winchester. No doubt to double back around the club and come in from another entrance.
“Shit,” Sypher cursed. “It’s Morpheus.”
