I know why now.

When she perfumed, I almost snapped, then listening to her father talk to her like that, I did. I needed to make her see that she’s nothing like what her father says she is, what he thinks she is. I needed Magnolia to know how perfect she is, and how goddamn bad I wanted her.

I don’t know if she’s soaking up his or marking him with hers, but all the scents are happening right now. I don’t think either of us have stopped perfuming and our alphas bodies are responding to it.

“Isaak,” Korvin grunts as my eyes trail up Magnolia’s body before meeting his steely gaze. “No one cares.”

I clear my throat. “I do.”

He gives me a soft smile, one that somehow looks out of place and right at home on his usually stoic face. “That’s valid. You’re allowed to feel that way.”

I roll my eyes as he throws one of mycatchphrasesfrom therapy at me.

“Oh god,” I say as panic tears through me. “I’m going to get fired. I’m going to lose my license to practice. I’ll probably go to prison for eating out my student and wanting to have sex with my patients. Oh my god, I’ve ruined everything. I?—“

“Isaak,” Magnolia says with a giggle. “Honey, you aren’t going to go to prison, and you aren’t going to lose your job.”

I shake my head as I turn toward her. “You don’t know that. You can’t know that.”

“I can,” she deadpans. “They don’t put legal consenting adults in prison for having sex with other legal consenting adults. How you met them doesn’t change that.”

“What about my job? I won’t be able to stay here once they find out what’s happening in my office.”

“They won’t.” Korvin wraps one of his arms around Maggie’s waist then reaches for me. “You think we’d come in here and risk either of you by doing it?”
