I go into the kitchen and try to help Zane set the table, but he refuses to let me.

“Quinn, I’ve got this. Please go sit down,” he snaps at me.

I throw up my hands and grab a seat at the table.

“What’s going on?” Cruz says, giving me a kiss.

“Nothing,” I say, glaring at Zane.

The three men exchange worried glances. “I give up. I wanted to wait to tell you after dinner, but keeping a secret around here is impossible. We’re having a baby.”

Cruz glances over at me and runs a hand through his hair. “You’re pregnant? How? I mean, I thought we were using something.”

“I was late getting my shot renewed,” I reply, my eyes narrowed in anger.

“I’ll make an appointment for you to go to the doctor first thing in the morning,” Sterling states firmly, picking up his phone.

Turning to Sterling, I shake my head. “My doctor’s appointment was on Monday. Everything is good.”

Raider still hasn’t said a word.

Gabriel comes over and sits down next to me. He’s quietly watching it all. His lip quivers. “Are you sick?”

“No, sweetheart. I’m not sick,” I reassure him. “We’re going to have a baby. Do you think you’ll like having someone to play with and protect?”

He thinks about it for a second. “No.”

Sputtering, I laugh. “We’ll see.”

Sterling comes over and lifts me out of the chair. “Another one. I feel like you’re spoiling me, giving me all these children. I can’t wait.” His kiss is tender and sweet.

Cruz comes over, an apology on his lips. “I’m sorry. That shouldn’t have been my first question. It was such a shock. I never thought about having one of my own.” He looks down at my stomach with a worried expression on his face. “Do you think I’ll be a good father?”

“Yes,” I say, cupping his face. “Look how good you are with Gabriel. Just give him the important stuff you missed out on with your dad.”

He buries his head in my shoulder and lifts me up. “I love you.”

“I love you, too,” I murmur, kissing him fiercely this time. It amazes me how good he is with Gabriel when you consider his experience with his father.

He sets me down and I look around for Raider, finally finding him outside.

“Are you unhappy about the baby?”

He turns to me, and a tear slips down his face. “I can’t wait to be a father, but I warn you, I want more than one.”

I slip into his arms. “That can be arranged.”

His kiss is demanding, and deep, almost like he’s already thinking of more.

“I missed you,” I tell him. “How did your visit go with your brother?”

“He’s naturally suspicious, but I assured him we could start with a conversation on the phone every once in a while and figure it out from there.” Leaning down, he captures my lips in a heartfelt kiss. “Thank you for pushing me.”

“Family’s important,” I remind him.

He lays his palm on my stomach. “It is.”

Zane sticks his head out and scowls at Raider. “She needs to eat.”

When we get inside, all four of them start discussing me and the baby as if I’m not even here. How much sleep I’ll need, what foods I can eat, the things we’ll need for it, and so much more. Instead of getting irritated, I bask in it. In the beginning, I wondered if I deserved to be happy, but I don’t anymore. They’re mine and I’m theirs. For us, it’s that simple.
