Lips and tongues dance and clash frantically, the battle intense, while each of us tries to make the other surrender.

A finger slides inside my body, out to rub the bundle of nerves at the top, then inside again. He ends our kiss to stare down at me. I watch the blankness that comes over him as the darkness in him takes over.

My body clenches with need, both my desire and the darkness rising up to meet his.

“That’s it. Feel the darkness filling you up inside?” he asks, his voice laced with shadows. He slides another finger inside me.

“Yes,” I answer, my body matching the rhythm he sets.

“How does it make you feel?” he whispers.

“Strong,” I murmur.

“Louder,” he orders, his hand pausing.

Needing to come, I move my hips, but he refuses me.

“Strong,” I state clearly. “Please.”

“Louder,” he grits out, refusing to give in to my plea.

“Strong! Fearless!” I shout, and with a cold smile, he takes me over the edge. My body pulses as the pleasure rushes through my body. My chest rises and falls rapidly until I catch my breath again.

He stands there holding me until it subsides, then turns off the water. Tightening his grip, he stalks out of the shower to the bedroom and lays me across the bed. Without a word, he slides inside.

I moan at the feel of him, thick and hard, inside me.

His ice-blue eyes flicker between light and dark. He thrusts in and out, hard and fast. There’s nothing soft about his possession.

“Deeper,” I plead, needing more of him.

He pulls my legs to his shoulders, and I moan to feel him filling me up so completely.

“You’re so fucking perfect for me,” he rasps. “From the moment I met you, I was intrigued. A beautiful woman who carried the same darkness and capacity to kill? You were meant to be in my life.”

“I’ve hungered for you, waited for you to find yourself again. To revel in the darkness that matches mine,” he breathes out. “Stop trying to reconcile the old and the new. You’re all of it. It’s why you fit so well with us. With me.”

He’s relentless. I reach my hand up for his. When they meet, I entwine our fingers together and grip hard. “I need you. So much. And the darkness. I am stronger with both.”

He closes his eyes. When he opens them, all the rage is gone. There’s nothing but heat and desire. He sinks into me over and over until the pieces of us merge into one.

This time, I fall over the edge and take him with me.

Breathing hard, he pulls out and stands staring down at me with satisfaction. “You’re so damn beautiful.”

After cleaning up, we lie naked under the fan, trying to cool off.

“How did you know?” I ask him.

“We could all see it was a breaking point, but I told Zane to take you home and drop you off. I knew it was time. You needed me to remind you that the darkness inside makes you strong, not weak,” he explains.

He rolls off the bed and picks up my robe. “Up, we need to go pick out a weapon.”

“Now?” I give him an incredulous look.

“Nobody’s home. I want to see you naked in the weapons room,” he states with a shrug. “So, yes, now.”

Bemused, I slide my arms into the robe he’s holding. “What about you? Plan on going naked?”
