“Good choice,” I winked at her, before strolling over to the metal baseball bat. I grabbed it, tapping it against my knee in anticipation. “You ready, gorgeous?”

Chloe trailed behind me hesitantly as I opened up room four.

In the middle of the room was a car. It was a simple sedan, with the green paint chipping off in some places, but otherwise untouched. Sweet. They must have just refreshed their inventory.

“After you,” I gestured to the car with my bat.

“So I can just hit this?” Chloe tapped the car gently with the putter.

I nodded at her encouragingly.

Chloe drew her putter back before smashing it into the car windshield hard, shattering all the glass in a bullseye pattern.

A wide smile spread across my face.

Chloe twirled her putter around in her hands, getting into it. She circled the car like a predator, her eyes lingering on all the parts that looked the most vulnerable. Suddenly she struck again. Her putter crashed into the taillights in an explosion of little bits of red plastic.

There was something fantastically hot about watching my scent match smash the car into smithereens. The way that her eyes narrowed as she swung, the glorious spray of glass and bits of metal exploding in the wake of her fury.

She was magnificent.

Sultry vanilla filled the room. The aroma seemed even sweeter now that it was mixed with the faint scent of car dust, iron and destruction.

Just like I thought, Chloe was filled to the brim with pent up rage.

I’d suspected it ever since Kain had first described her. How her head was always in a book. Always rushing from class to class, pushing herself to the max. My girl was winding herself up way too tightly. Chloe might not know it, but she was nothing but a bundle of tension. Living on the edge of a total mental breakdown. Desperate for release.

Now Chloe was panting, her face flushed and eyes bright. Somehow, she looked even hotter like this, slightly disheveled, and letting it all out. The car was dented all over, with every single piece of glass in tiny shards on the floor.

“Remind me to never make you angry,” I muttered.

CHAPTER 17

CHLOE

I couldn’t saywhy Sabien made me lose control.

He wasn’t the kind of guy I ever thought I’d be interested in. If anyone, I always saw myself with someone like Kain. Kain reminded me of myself. He was the responsible one. I was willing to bet cold hard cash that Kain was a straight A student. The kind of guy who kept his room tidy and who would do the dishes without anyone having to ask him to do it.

In comparison, Sabien’s energy was wild.

He had that same handsome face that I was already drawn to because of Kain, but being with him could not feel more different. On the outside, he appeared calm and put together. Beneath it, his energy was explosive. He was a whirlwind, a natural disaster. Like he was always on the cusp of some impromptu adventure, or of throwing himself straight into danger.

Being with him felt like flinging off a bra after a long day.

Before spending time with him, I had no idea that he was exactly what I needed. I felt freed from a cage that I didn’t even know that I’d fallen into. I felt like I’d been thrownstraight into the deep end, into the refreshing waters that soothed away all the stress I didn’t even know was there.

It was Sabien’s turn. He had been leaning casually against the wall, eyes never leaving me. But now, as he appraised the damage I’d done, I could see the animal hunger in his expression. Something wild within him was rising to the surface, happy to be let out to play.

Suddenly he slammed his bat down, cracking across the hood of the car with the explosive crash of metal on metal.

Damn.He hithard.

Sabien didn’t stop there, swinging the bat again and again, until the entire door frame twisted under the force of the blows. Even under the protective suit, I could see how his biceps flexed with each swing, how the muscles in his back bunched up.

Oh,fuck.

He was sexy.
