CHAPTER

NINETEEN

SOPHIA

More. More. More.

My omega was thirsty now that she had a taste of our alpha.

She couldn't get enough. Her desire to get close to him, to rub up against him, to own him as thoroughly as he owned her was pushed to the forefront of my mind.

She craved him, needed him, couldn't live without the way he made our body feel this morning.

And truthfully, neither could I. Had I known that having them touch me could feel so damn good, I'd have encouraged it sooner.

I braved a glance at the alpha as I tested if the potatoes were done boiling, and he gave me a flirty wink, nearly causing my knees to buckle. "Need anything, omega?"

He knew damn well what I was thinking. Still, I cleared my throat. "Could you take this pot to the sink and drain it for me, alpha?"

The smirk never left his delicious-looking lips as he reached over me, grabbed the pot, and lifted it over my head.

I inhaled, savoring the scent of him that had my lower abdomen pulsing so intensely for a moment that I nearly doubled over.

I didn't know what was wrong with me, but lately every time he was near, my body did wild things, cramping up and demanding to be soothed.

It passed quickly enough, thankfully, but it still hit out of nowhere.

He returned with the drained pot, placing it on the stove in front of me, before he continued working on the salad. I poured some cream and tossed in some butter and spices, before I began mashing the potatoes, using all my strength to work out the chunks.

"I can do that for you," Bran offered as he entered the kitchen, going straight for me to kiss my cheek.

"I've got it. It's almost done."

He reached in, scooping some potato onto his finger, causing me to swat at him as he placed the finger in his mouth. "Tastes delicious."

"Need anything?"

"More salt maybe? Not too much though." He placed a hand on my hip as he leaned forward, retrieving the saltshaker, and placing it in my hand.

"Thank you, beta."

"Anything for our omega," he purred before stepping back and grabbing some plates to set the table. "Where's Leo?"

"He went to check on the animals before the storm hits," James answered.

"It's going to be a big one. I've got candles out and made sure we had fresh batteries in case we lose power." Bran directed his next statement at me, "It happens a few times a year out here. Usually it's not that big of a deal. But on rare occasions, it could be out for days."

"Yikes." I winced, remembering a few times growing up when I was faced with that same issue. Growing up on a farm meant they always fixed the places with higher populations first. A farm in a sparsely populated area would be last on their list.

A clap of thunder roared outside, and on instinct, I shivered, knowing just how cold it probably was outside. Distracting myself from the weather, I announced, "Mashed potatoes are done. If you want to start putting the food on the table, I'll go get Leo."

"It's starting to storm," Bran reminded me.

"It's fine," I moved toward the door and slipped on my boots. "Besides, I'm taking the alpha's jacket, so I'll be warm."

A rumble left his chest as he watched me remove his oversized canvas jacket from the hook and put it on.

It hung low, going well past my knees, and the sleeves were longer than my arms, but it smelled deliciously like him.

I leaned into the collar, inhaling as my thighs clenched and my stomach pulsed.

"Omega," he growled. "You will go and hurry back before the storm gets too rough."

I rolled my eyes, and he growled again. "It's not even raining yet."

"It's windy, it's dark, it's thundering and lightning," Bran pointed out, and I stuck my tongue out at him the moment James looked down.

"I'm only going to the barn."

"Still," James nearly pouted. "I should have you stay inside."

"Too late," I taunted as I opened the door and skipped outside, well aware of the sound leaving the alpha as I slammed the door behind me.

I wrapped the jacket tight, pulling it close as the wind pushed against me.

It was strong enough to make the trees sway and the open barn door bang open and closed.

I assumed that was where I'd find Leo, so I began the walk toward the large structure, and when I stepped inside, I called out for the delta.

"Leo?"

There was a little bit of a scuffle. "Omega?"

I smiled, loving the sound of his voice. I followed it to a separated pen and leaned over to glimpse him. "What are you doing?"

"We've got two animals in labor and one of me," he paused for a moment. "I think this one will be okay, but the next pen over, she's really struggling. I've not locked up the chickens yet. Or herded the cows to shelter."

"I can do it," I pushed away from the pen.

"No. Get James; he will know what to do."

"I said I'll do it, delta, and I can." Before he could argue further, I stepped out into the cold wind again, going straight for the chicken coops.

The chickens were frantic, feeding off the energy in the weather, but one thing about chickens is they would do anything for food.

All day, any day, they wanted to eat, and so I pulled some carrots that James had left in his pocket out and tossed them into the coop, then added a few scoops of food.

They flocked forward, rushing into the enclosure as I used a cane that was on the wall to corral the rest. When the last chicken was in the coop, I slammed the door, flipping the lock.

The sky rumbled, reminding me that time was short, and when I reached the cows, rain had begun to lightly fall.

I wasn't delusional enough to think it would remain this light.

In fact, I assumed any moment the sky would break into a pour, which made me thankful that the cows had all sought shelter on their own.

I helped scoot them in, made them comfortable with hay and grain, filled their water, then pulled closed the door separating them from the outside elements.

My walk back to the barn was wet. The rain fell faster, harder, and the wind howled furiously. When I entered the barn and approached the delta, he looked up. "I told you to get James."

"It's done," I assured him before kneeling next to him. "Let me help."

"Omega, this isn't a job for you." I'd never seen Leo so grumpy, and I wasn't sure I liked it. Though I knew that this was his job and his life, and he took it all seriously, I was able to help him.

"I grew up on a farm," I blurted out, and he froze, his eyes going wide.

"Well, well, omega... that explains a lot." I jumped at the sound of James's voice behind me. "Why didn't you say anything?"

His voice was like warm honey, and my omega howled her pleasure.

Mine. Mine. Mine.

"I – I didn't think it would make a difference. You didn't want me," I looked toward the ground.

"Correction, we always wanted you; I just didn't think we deserved an omega who should have a better life. However, if you grew up on a farm, then maybe you were meant for this one." He stepped forward, his palm going to my cheek. "You didn't come back."

"It's because our sneaky omega was cooping the chickens and locking the cows in for the night," Leo responded. "We're about to have two new babes on this farm. Perfect night for it, wouldn't you say?"

James laughed, though it was humorless. "Stick around, omega; we're in for a long night. Maybe you can help."

He leaned forward, kissing my forehead, before rolling up his sleeves and getting to work, helping Leo.

The sight of them helping a mama with her baby made my omega purr with lust, and though I tried to talk her down, she wasn't listening.

She wanted them, she needed them, she had to have them. .. Now.

But I pushed her want aside and knelt next to them, getting my hands dirty with the miracle I was witnessing until we had two healthy babies on our hands.

I helped clean up, assisting Leo to lay down a fresh bed of hay, before giving some food and water.

It was after one before we made it into the house, each of us so damn tired we could barely stand.

I loved it.

I loved... them.

The thought was a jolt to my system, making me suddenly hyper aware that they were close to me as we entered our home.

Bran appeared as soon as he heard the door, checking on us even though I knew he had been texting Leo throughout the night.

He smiled when he saw us, the sight of him slightly ruffled so damn endearing.

"The babes okay?"

"Perfect," James's gruff voice answered.

"Great." I wish I felt as cheerful as he looked. "You guys stink."

"Thanks for the insult and stating the obvious," Leo replied dryly. "Omega. Will you..." He licked his lips, and my eyes followed. "Shower with us?"

"I-" I had never showered with anyone before.

Even my old pack kept their distance, making me feel unwanted.

But these men, they clearly wanted me. I should be bashful, and I am, but they had already woken me up with their tongues on my body.

They'd seen all of me. What else did I have to be ashamed of? "I've never done that before."

A growl of satisfaction rumbled through James. What I never mentioned was that though I'd never showered with someone before, I'd also never seen a man naked. My cheeks heated, and I looked away.

Another rumble before James answered. "We'll shower and sleep, that's all, omega."

Then he bent over, wrapped his arms around my legs, and flung me over his shoulder, taking me down the hall and not dropping me until we were standing in the middle of their shared bathroom.
